New EasyJet Cabin Crew Uniform Unveiled

Mon Dec 25, 2006 10:14 am

This has been chosen as the new cabin crew uniform for easyJet which will slowly be introduced next year!

Looks a lot more professional than the current one, very smart I think!

Thanks Glenn

their current uniform looks fine to me -- they are different and classic. Orange color is easy to notice.

I can understand their need for uniform "upgrade"

Still too much orange. Orange, to me, doesn't convey "efficient business." Blue, gray and even red are better than the orange.

Ugh.

That suit looks awful on both him and her! Badly tailored .. and 3 buttons is definitely not the way to go! Look at his sleeves .. way to much fabric, let a tailor lay his hand on that and it will look the professional way it's intended!

Suits can look wonderful .. if done right!

For a LCC, this uniform doesn't fit. I'm used to more of a casual approach.

Mmm... I think that the lapel detail on the womens' jacket is lost behind the shirt collar; with that jacket, I would say a bigger lapel would look better.

And for my money: they should've gone bolder, with orange blouses for both men and women, with a white scarf with the easyJet logo in orange for the females, and a white-and brown club tie for men.

And that man should have a logo scarf/hanky folded into a point and tucked in his top jacket pocket.

Now then, all that said, I will admit that there's a broad section of humanity (likely, some of them among easyJet's flight attendant staff) that would look TERRIBLE in that much orange. Even the colors selected for the uniforms as depicted aren't going to be flattering on everyone.

One of the possible new uniforms that we voted on had an orange shirt, without the tie and with a waistcoat, and another was a mix of the other two options, with white shirts, orange shirts, the tie shown above, waistcoat for men, etc.

I for one am glad to be getting the new uniform - maybe people will stop gawking at me when I walk through the terminal now.

I think stitching the arm onto the pocket is a silly move - the poor girl can't move her arm!

It looks like they both really hate modeling.

ZZZzzzz Uniform nothing new in it. Does anyone really give a toss who uses EZY?

I'm not so keen on either uniform.. The old uniform is too orange for me and looks too simple, however the new uniform looks a bit too corporate for low-frills EasyJet.

The new uniform looks awful. Really cheap and boring. It not helping that both people in the photo look like they want to be at home having a sleep.

After the Airline TV show, I came to grow rather fond of the orange Easyjet uniform. What a shame it's being replaced with an invisible uniform that won't stand out...

My friend works for EZY and he sent me that picture a few days ago, it's certainly an impressive uniform for a LCC, very smart indeed!

They're getting a load of extras with it too, jumpers, vests, bags, etc.

It looks great...but I honestly think it is a little too formal for an LCC. The previous one was too casual. A combination of the two would have been better suited for EasyJet.

It looks smart but really quite bland. In particular the male uniform - it looks more like a business suit than an important part of an airline's brand.

The majority of LCCs in the US have uniforms that are pretty much just like those new EasyJet uniforms (with ties, scarves, etc. in colors and patterns for that particular airline). I believe the only LCC in the US that still has a casual uniform for their F/As is Southwest.

This move by EasyJet makes their F/As look more professional. For the most part, casual F/A uniforms have pretty much always been the exception rather than the rule and have typically been used by LCCs. Even Southwest once had "traditional" F/A uniforms:

Definately a step in the right direction, but far from perfect. The cabin crew had three options to choose from by a vote, and there was one which was a bit more casual with orange open neck shirts, and another which was pretty much a mix of the two. I have to say I was expecting one of the others, but most of the EZY crew I know are not going to complain!

Hmm...im quite confused...why easyjet wants to have formal uniform rather than casual uniform? It's doesnt look smart....Look at Virgin Blue uniform...it has half casual and half formal. I really like their stylish uniform and it's sexy as well. Here's the link of Virgin Blue's uniform below.

Just a thought... the poeple that chose this uniform are the people that are going to have to wear, and work with it day in day out. So no matter whether anyone thinks its "too formal for a LCC" or "not the right image for easyJet", if their crew chose it then fair play to them and lets hope they enjoy wearing and working in it!

Looks very good in my opinion!

It really depends on destination. Early morning and late evening flights between GVA and London are mostly flown by business people...... Of course if you fly between London and Ibiza, there are chances to see more tourists. This is probably a generality for all airlines.

For me, as an ex EZS cabin crew, I totally love this new uniform. And I would be proud to wear it.

why easyjet wants to have formal uniform rather than casual uniform? It's doesnt look smart...

The crew voted for this uniform because, quite frankly, a lot of crew are embarrassed by the current uniform. This can really affect the crew's morale when some idiot comes up to you and makes a snide remark or when walking through the terminal and to the crew room passing BA, VS, ZB etc crew who look a hell of a lot more professional. U2 may be a young company, with a quite low average crew age and a "fun" image, but very few of us can say we are proud of who we work for when you're waiting at a train station at 3am, dressed like a walking bottle of tango with everyone staring at you and some laughing. True, it gets the brand "out there" but the affect on crew morale is too significant to ignore.

U2 is in what I believe to be the early stages of a rebranding, with a new tag-line in the works, new formal crew uniform, introduction of speedy boarding etc. Andy Harrison is quite keen to follow up on the company's mission statement: low fares with care and convenience. It would seem Andy Harrison is very much in favor of allocated seating etc too, but the Stelios influence still exists.

I hardly believe it's going to be a big shock to anone's system when easyJet crew start wearing smarter uniforms? Are the crew not good enough to wear something that looks, well, normal? Are the passengers of such standing that they do not deserve a professional looking crew to complement the professional service that the crew provide? And honestly, at the end of the day, who really cares all that much? The businessperson flying TLS-LGW will see the airline as much more professional, and the leisure traveller flying LGW-PRG for a stag trip will hardly be alienated by a crew wearing suits. Perhaps it will even garner the crew a bit more respect, we may be flying waitstaff/bus conductors/whatever you care to call us but we are there for the safety of the aircraft and its passengers. If a smarter uniform makes passengers sit up and take us even a tad more seriously, its worth the change.

And...? On board the crew will stand out (name badges, wings etc). Apart from that, does it really matter? In an emergency the chances are you won't even see what the crew are wearing, not that you'd really care anyway.

Look at BA's uniform - nothing too spectacular there is there? But the tie pattern has gained recognition and the same will happen for U2.

For those of you who have doubts quality wise, I have seen it up close and the quality is quite good - the trial items as shown in the picture were just that - trials. And for everybody's info, the two people in the picture are not preofessional models, so give them a break  Smile

Big improvement. The old uniforms, especially on their ground staff although I think the flight attendant uniform was similar, made them look like they were on their way to work behind the counter at McDonald's.
