College Football Bowl Charters.

Tue Dec 26, 2006 1:24 am

First off I would like to wish everyone happy holidays.

Does any one have any info on the bowl charters that will be coming to PHX for the Insight Bowl (Minnesota v Texas Tech), Fiesta Bowl (Boise State v Oklahoma), and the big one, the BCS National Championship game (Ohio State v Florida). I would just like know when we could expect them to show up here with the teams, staff, and finally the fans. Any info on the types and when they are coming in would be helpful.

Thank You.

I think I saw on here that for the BCS National Championship, you guys in PHX would see a UA 744 as a charter from CMH.

Can't remember what else, though, and even if that is right.

Minnesota arrived on Christmas Eve flying a ATA 753 flight #6269 for the Insight Bowl, couldn't find any information regarding Texas Tech who also arrived yesterday. Both Fiesta Bowl teams Boise State and Oklahoma arrive tomorrow the 26th. .

If its coming into EUG, wouldnt it be U of Oregon, not Oregon state? That would be Corvallis, although the two are very close. I nkow the UO Ducks have chartered UA 744s and 772s in the past from PDX to ?

Cant wait to see the World MD-11

I'd expect Wake Forest to take another Pace or Miami Air 737 GSO/INT to FLL on Dec. 27 (they need to be in Miami by noon Tuesday) - don't expect a lot more since not all players are going to be on the charter - many players that live far from campus are making their own arrangements to Miami (for example, about 1/3rd of the team lives in Florida, so they're just going to head down there on their own). Cheerleaders and dance team are responsible for getting themselves down to South Florida themselves as well.

A NW A333 in MCO, wow that could have been a first. Too bad the weather in Orlando was cloudy/rainy all day.

Any other team charters coming to the Orlando area? It might be a stupid question but I don't really follow college football Big grin

Looks like NEBRASKA is playing in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on New Years Day (heads up DFW).

Didn't know NW had that many A333's available that they could use them for charters?

Rare. University of Oregon returned the following day on their charter. Especially if it is a night bowl game. I'll check into it, but I would guess that the Beavs will be coming home on the 30th.

The Warriors beat the Sun Devils 41 -24.

NW will have a few birds from DTW to LAX for the rose bowl and I don't mean
the U of M football team. Expect at least one 747 and a couple of 757s. No doubt a DC 10 will be tossed in too. Michigan has a very large following to their bowl games.

The Auburn University Marching Band will be on two Miami Air 737-800's from Montgomery to Dallas Love Field for the Cotton Bowl. However, since I live over 400 miles from Dallas and Auburn they are paying for my ticket on American from Raleigh to DFW.

Cool. We'll talk later on AIM or MSN to figure out a time to leave. Question will be where to go stand. I'm not sure if they'll use a jetway on the south side, or park on the ramp and use stairs on the north side. I used to know someone that worked for the company that handles all the charters at EUG, but I've lost touch with him.

Which airline do you work for at EUG?

So it sounds like there won't be any good chances to see the thing parked at a gate, unless it's on the south side, then...Bummer.

Hopefully, it would be at A6 again. Needless to say, that beast dominated the gate area. It was also fun to explore both inside and out. It is an ex-DL bird and still had the DL interior. First/Business was 24 seats along with DL pattern on all of the coach seats. The turn into the gate at A6 is tight. The crew "crawled" it in, but still could not get it on the centerline. The jet bridge also was about a foot too short, so an extra step was used to reach the cabin. After playing with RJ's all day, it was fun to explore that "beast".

I'll bet. I'd love to crawl around in the belly of something that big, and check out the flight deck! Would be a total blast! Have fun when she comes back. Not sure yet where we'll be hanging out, but should be there to check her out! Should be another wet day, Saturday.

University of Iowa football took one ATA L-1011 from CID to SAT on the day before christmas eve to get their asses beat by the longhorns...

I'm guessing there will be a few UA heavy charters from Des Moines and Cedar Rapids in the coming days to bring in fan charters and what not. San Antonio look out, you'll be seeing a lot of black and gold downtown in the coming days.

If the Irish lose yet another bowl game this year (won't that make it 10 in a row?) they should be forced to walk home from New Orleans through the worst part of town. That might give them some incentive to get their act together on the field.

Anyone have an idea what Florida will be flying to Glendale? I'm guessing Delta given the majority of their charters in the past but who knows.

Mizzouri arrived last week the same day OSU did on a Ryan Int. 734.
