BA And The 737 Fleet

Wed Dec 27, 2006 7:45 pm

Reading www.airfleets.net and BA, they got 33 B737 Classic!!

My question is do they really have that many left ´cuz all you see these days are the A32X flying.

Cheers

As you can see, a lot of them weren't new to BA hence the lack of a '36' Boeing code.

Yes.

And they are all based at LGW. Some of the BA leased 735s have made their first ever visit to LHR in the last five or sixth months for repainting in the BA LHR paint shop. The cost of doing this suggests that BA expect to continue to operate them for some time yet although they were all obtained on a five year lease that has been renewed (but for how long?).

At LGW it is usual for just one BA A319 to be in service. The aircraft varies as it is rotated with other LHR based aircraft at night stops at either MAN or another domestic airport served from both LHR and LGW.

A mystery to me as well.

Yes they do have a fleet of 2nd generation 737's, which are getting on a bit. They are however by the little different to the shorthaul fleet age of many other major airlines. One example is that if you look at the US majors most of them have large fleets of MD80's or 737's which are older.

If they do the job and turn in a profit what's the problem ?

I think its alex being alex lol
I also think cause you said all you see is A320, you did not know all the 737's are based out of LGW. If you go there, all you see is 737's.
Where does the time go???

The BA 737 fleet can be a great source of amusement, for both good and bad reasons.  Smile

I must mention, though, that the LGW 737s are not BA's oldest aircraft! That title goes to the late 80s vintage Airbus 'classic' at LHR.

I had no idea that Gatwick have all the 737´s. Pics you see is mostly from Heathrow and most European airports are the A32x hence my question and I don´t doubt for a second that BA´s 737 are doing a great job, nobody cares exept a.nutters  Wink what we fly in from point A to B.

Cheers
