Aurigny Aircraft Comes Off Runway At BRS

Sat Dec 30, 2006 10:38 pm

Just to confirm,an Aurigny ATR 72 aircraft came off the Runway at BRS on Friday 29th Dec.I believe the aircraft was hit by strong crosswinds on landing, and came off the runway. No injuries sustained to crew and pax,and aircraft should be back in service very soon.

Media reports that Aurigny put on an extra aircraft to pick up the pax for return flight to GCI, anyone know what this was? Could have been the shorts360 as the ATR's are pretty commited elsewhere on MAN and LGW routes

A 2nd a/c also came off the runway that same evening.
A BA a/c apparently.
Cause is said to be strong winds/weather and also temporary surface thats been laid during the runway refurb, which is much more slippery in places.
Runway closed for a few hours in the evening. Diverts to CWL/BHX/EXT
Caused a bit of havoc!!

Aurigny used a Titan 737 on the GR679 that evening(29th). Handling agent wasn't advised of the reasons why though!

An Aurigny ATR was parked at CWL overnight after diverting in.
Does BRS normally have a based ATR there??

The ATR's are based in GCI, for BRS as far as i know they do a route in from GCI and back again.... i guess the weather really messed them up yesterday! interesting they got a 737 into GCI, noise regs usually mean operators have to get special permission

Quoting Caaardiff (Reply 2):

I was at BRS that evening, and believe me,that wind was extremely strong.I was talking to one of the airport staff, and he said there was an aircraft on approach. He did say this particular airline will land in any weather(any guesses yet???)
I did only see one other aircraft land whilst there, which was a BA EMB 145,which might be the other accident in question.
Also heard a couple of BA FA's talking, and they said there was no way they were going back up in that weather.
Also, there must be a lot of difference in each airline operating procedures,as nearly all EZY flights diverted, whilst a couple did make an attempt.

GR ATR72, BA ERJ145 all went off runway. Understand a FCA 757 had a close shave as well  relieved
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!
