Commutair/CO Connection Ends ELM Service

Mon Jan 01, 2007 3:17 am

According to SkyGuide, CO Connection will be ending its service to ELM on 7 Jan 07. The last flight will be ELM-ROC, flight #8726. CO had been offering one flight to CLE and one flight to ROC. The CO web site also confirms this information as you cannot book flights after the 7th.

You have to wonder if they made any money out of ELM only offering two flights and one of those being to ROC with little connection possibilities.

Maybe they are drawing down their 1900 fleet to prep for the Q200's. When does the Dash service start???

I had always thought ELM was that corporate air or whatever it's called had its maintenance base in ELM, and the CLE-ELM flights were the way to ferry the planed into the CLE hub-- even though they always seemed pretty empty to me. WOuld be shocked if the market could support a larger aircraft, so I'm guessing it is gone.

I always thought it was curious that CLE had ELM service but not larger markets nearby such as Binghamton or Traverse City. Maintenance was how I explained it. . . .

I think the only maintenance base that Commutair has is in Plattsburgh, NY. That's where it's headquarters is located.

Not sure why ELM had the service. They had it ever since Commutair opened it's CLE hub.

Maybe Corning had a contract, so they began it, but it didn't attract enough other customers so when the contract was finally up, CO told Corning to pay a lot more, or they will end it.

Just a guess, but there might be something to it.

That's a shame for ELM to lose CO service. Upstate New York has really been struggling lately.

Might be but considering Corning has a large corporate flight department with several Falcon 900's and Dornier 328's I don't know if they would use a Beech 1900 to shuttle execs to CLE.
