Is it now also the case that Upper Deck 744 is also open to more people for seat selection?
Indeed. I have been told there are no more Gold seats in the old sense (apart from 1AK). Gold and
Silver now get access to whatever is not already assigned - including the best UD seats
This new policy is just plain stupid - BA
have managed to seriously piss off many Golds and also all Blues. The only people who benefit as far as I can see are Silvers. The policy need not be so silly...everyone would win if BA
1. Open all seats to be pre-assigned (the ONLY good move here)
2. Give access to the best, say, 20% just to Prem/Gold/Emerald (+ companions) - 1AK, first row of CE
, rows 62-64 on the UD, etc.
3. Give access to the next best, say, 40% to Prem/Gold/Silver/Emerald/Sapphire (+ companions) and Full Fare
4. Let Blues/Ruby pre-assign whatever is left (i.e. so people can sit together and have some peace of mind)
Sigh. This - combined with the impending stupid checked baggage changes and the general checked baggage chaos at LHR already - is leaving me (and others) increasingly disillusioned with BA. I have forward bookings in 2007 but now my (comped and previously not very well used) *G card is already seeing business I'd have blindly given BA before. "We know you have a choice" - indeed...
