FLL Observatory Deck?

just came to FLL 2 days ago. there was some ADS in the airport about a new obervatory (spotting) deck. anybody knows about it ?

No, but if there is one that is exciting. Would be worth the drive to check out.

If you mean in the Terminals itself, That would be the FLLight Deck. It's in terminal 3 near the security checkpoint for concorse E and over looks gates E2, 4, 6, 8, and F1, 3, 5, 7, 9. You can see traffic moving to and from the runway. But not much else. You can expect to see operations for AirTran, AA, Westjet, Skyservice, and US Airways out on E10 as we no longer use E6-8 unless we have too.

Now for the bad news. FLL's use of the FLLight Deck is eratic at best it seems like like the doors are unlocked and opened on a whim.

For the time being the lot by 9L is still open but as the Westside Development project moves closer it's days look to be numbered.
