BA 737 & 777 Comparison Photo

Thu Jan 04, 2007 2:04 am

Does anybody know where I can find that famous photo of the BA 737 parked 'face to face' with a 777 engine?

I did a search for this but couldn't find it.
Thanks

It's in "Boeing 777" by Guy Norris and Mark Wagner (Motorbooks International). I can scan it here, but is that copyright infringement?

Absolutely, even if you give him credit.  Sad

Maybe BFS can find the book at his local library or book shop.

Dude, if you're going to LGW North Terminal, stand on the bridge that goes to the new gates and wait til a 777 taxis right underneath you. I did it on my way to Abu Dhabi (Etihad always park at the remote gates) and it wasn't long before the tip of the tail of BA 777 passed about 12 feet beneath my feet. It is a TRULY AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Enjoy.

It really is amazing... So many "regular" passengers just stopped and watched in awe when it happened to me!

Nice shot Sam, seen it before Smile

I always seem to be on the bridge at sunrise when its too poor lighting, I must get on it soon when photography is easier.

You can fit the actual fuselage in, that was the idea of the photo Smile If there was no gear then the 737 fueslage could fit inside the GE90.

How is it that the 737s right wing doesn't bang into the 777's fuselage?

Good observation! Looks like the 737 is closer to the camera than the 777

2 possible reasons for the lack of apparent conflict between the 777's fuselage and the 737's starboard wing are:

1. The 737-400 is long enough to allow the fore fuselage to be brought close to the 777's nacelle without the wings contacting the 777

2. The 777 stands much higher than the 737.

It may also have been that the planes were towed into position at angles to prevent conflict. Initially one would have thought that the 737 would have been a scrapped example with an amputated wing - but no 737-400s were in the scrap at the time (1997).

Did anybody else notice that the linked picture credits Javier Gore from Airliners.net ?

Is that unusual? I searched for him in the database and he only has one picture. I assume it was a rejection?

Thanks

I am 100% sure that Javier Gore scanned that photo from a book.
He probably owns this book:

and scanned the photo from this book and added the photo to MyAviation.net since MyAviation.net accepts poor quality photos.
