Wow! That must have been the ride of a lifetime!
As for BA, my experiences aboard their flights was very good; the cabin crew certainly did their best to make things comfortable for passengers. The closest I came to your experience was aboard a Canadi>n 737; though I had to vacate the cockpit during landing, the view from the flight deck during our descent over the glaciers north of Vancouver was nothing short of spectacular.
I, too, am grateful for all those adult airline professionals who took the time to answer the incessent questions of this inquisitive boy. Though I never became an airline pilot as an adult, I remain an ardent airliner enthusiast to this day. Moreover, as a teacher, I can appreciate the importance of caring adults sharing what they love with children.
I hope you follow your dream; I'm sure you will be up there in the front seat on one of my flights to some interesting destination.
