Pluna Plans Recovery; E-Jets; Miami Flights

Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:18 am

Good article, in English, about what PLUNA is planning to do post-Varig. A new investor group will be pumping $177M into the small airline to place an order for new jets, most likely from Embrarer, as well as expand long-haul services with more frequencies to Madrid and new flights to Miami:

Nice news for South America as PU probably will also improve their flights between Argentina, Brazil, Chile and other countries to Uruguay also.

I expect they can obtain approval for some MVD-Northeast Brazil-MAD/MIA flights.

Cool news. I have always had PU high up in my list. They are a nice small company which represents Uruguay very god, and going to MIA is going to be great. I would speculate that after the e-jet order, their fleet might look like this:

B763ER
E195
E170
ATR

What about the 757? Is it only temporary?

I said i am speculating.....please read before posting, and please post something relevant to the thread, not just a reply to a misread statement. Of course we don´t know how long will the 757 last in PU´s fleet.

The 757 really doesn´t fit into their network, apart from some flights to Brazil it really doesn´t match. A 737 or an E195 flown with more frecuency (meaning better use of the hub) can do the job. PLUNA´s small fleet of 7 is right now composed by 1 model of each aircraft, except for 2 732s.

BTW, i would like to include some 73Gs on that list. And maybe drop the ATR.

It is indeed a very interesting article. Hopefully this time PU will be able to grow and succeed. Much will depend, I am afraid, on the future performance of the economy of Uruguay as whole, though.

Fleetwise, I think Embraer jets are a very smart choice. I really hope we will be able to see an E170 or 190 in PU colors soon.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

I remember when Pluna's 707 used to fly to EZE , the check in counter was a little space squeezed between Pan Am and LADE's check in counters ( too long ago...) I think they used to serve Ezeiza twice a week only.

I think The E-Jets are a good incorporation to PU fleet, maybe we'll see some new regional flights to Argentina and Brazil.

Ouch! Do you ever reply in a non-threatening, civilized manner?

Anyway, nice to hear PU is thinking about restructuring. I also agree that the E-jets are a great choice. They will look nice in their colors!

Cheers,

I do, when im not replied in a defying manner. BTW, Im trying to give him some advice.

I would think PU could launch COR, BSB. VVI and maybe FLN with the E-jets....

Ah, the problems of internet. Don't think he was being defying  Smile

Back to topic, the report says that there are plans of a US$177 million investment, but according to this report that came out on "La Nacion" newpaper on friday, the Government of Uruguay announced the deal already as a sure thing.
