Has any one any information on the closing of terminal two and what the timetable is for its demolition.

Jan 29 is the final day for T2 ops. Starting Tuesday Jan 30, all AC (and UA) transborder flts will operate from T1. T2 will be gone by the end of the year. You'll probably see a progressive demolishing as the year goes on.

FYI....The smaller guage aircraft to the USA (50 seat CRJs, Dash 8's and Beechcrafts) will still use the "east beach" holding area. Those passengers will be bussed to/from T1, instead of T2 like they are now. The only exception might be the DCA flights, due to the extraordinary security screening for those flights.

T2 is the linear terminal to the right of where the [former] Terminal 1 stands. I believe it is AC's current transborder terminal.

I'm afraid I don't understand this either. I've flown to both DCA and IAD from within the United States and experienced precisely the same security precautions as on any other flight.

On flights from YYZ (and I believe YUL too), passengers must undergo a secondary security screening at the gate. At YYZ, the DCA flights are out of gate "U", which is the last gate down the hall. Once there, you'll need to show your boarding pass to confirm that you're going to DCA, then you and your carry-on bags will be screened. When I was in YUL, I didn't fly to DCA, but I noticed a gate which had a waiting room and a sign for all DCA passengers to line up and await screening.

I have a flight from IAD to YYZ on Jan 25 on UA. This will definitely be my last T2 flight.

I definitely won't miss this terminal. It was built as a cargo facility originally and opened as a pax terminal in 1972. It's an unspiring long thin terminal with low ceilings and no character.

The only advantage in the past year or 2 in flying to the US on AC/UA from YYZ has been that the US customs lines are generally very short at T2 compared to the mess at T3 where AA/NW/CO/DL/WS reside.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

I went to check out T2 during my trip to YYZ on Dec. 1st, I was hopping from terminal to terminal, checking out YYZ. I couldn't believe the state it was in. It felt like a dungeon. There wasn't a single person walking around. It'll be nice to see it gone.

Two more T2 photos, in foreground in first shot (about half of it) and at far left in the second aerial shot, showing the full length, with the large rectangular parking garage to the right.

T2 was one of the most depressing terminals I have ever used. Also a very long trek from one end to the other, and if not mistaken it has no moving sidewalks.

I will also miss the old passenger tunnel under the ramp between the now-demolished original T1 and T2. Archaeologists will probably discover its sealed-up remains in a few thousand years, like an Egyptian tomb.
