I recently flew NW on the SEA-AMS route (trip report coming soon), and I had a couple of questions about NW's A330 operations here:
Our flight from AMS to SEA arrived in SEA at 2:30pm, which is after both the AMS and NRT flight have departed for the day. Does the plane sit in SEA until the next day? The only thing I can think of is that maybe NW does maintenance on the plane during the downtime. Does NW do A330 maintenance in Seattle? If not, it seems that the aircraft could easily be utilized on a turn to HNL, which can always use more capacity (and allow one of the daily 753's to be used somewhere else), or even to MSP/DTW.
Secondly, NW sometimes swaps in A333's at SEA. It seems that NRT especially needs the additional capacity. Is there any plan to permanently switch NRT to the bigger A333, or does this present too many issue given the range of the aircraft?
Any info is appreciated.
