Flight Times Out Of PHX For AmericaWest

Tue Jan 09, 2007 11:39 am

So I was looking at flight times for flying out of FAT, OAK, SJC, and SMF to PHX for my anual spring training for the Oakland A's. Well flights out of FAT and such are only about a hour flight to PHX. Also if I was to connect in LAS and LAS-PHX its only a 14 min flight. Why are flights to LAS from PHX 2h 15m same for LAX and everything else in California? I always remember my flight from PHX to FAT every single time (10 times a year) being only about 35 - 40 min flights. Is something wrong with the website or have flight times changed?

Yeah but when it says FLIGHT TIME it says 2h 15m. It is not saying time of departure and time of arival it is saying the flight time.

You're both right, Arizona is on MST all the time, but the state does not participate in Daylight Savings time, which means during the summer it is on the same time as Pacific.

But how does this explaine the flight times...the time in the air? I know that it is in a different time zone but does not explain the time in the air.

The times are gate to gate times, and are "padded" to help the airlines achieve an on-time performance. Chances are the flight will probably only take about 2 hours gate to gate dependent on ground-stops etc.

Technically, that would be MST in the winter and PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) in the summer, a small, but nonetheless importand distinction.

As previous posters state, what it really boils down to is that the entire state of Arizona is in the Mountain time zone, but does not observe daylight savings time.

Flight times to SD and LA are about 1:00 and change, actual about 35-45 minutes.

FAT from PHX is 493 miles, LAX is 370 and SD is 304. So scheduled flight times would be longer and actual, while shorter than scheduled, still longer than the flights to SD and LA.

According to SONIC (CO's res system), PHX-FAT is blocked (scheduled) at 1:49 at the most (1:40 at the least), the return is blocked (scheduled) a little less.
