JET2 B757 G-LSAF (TC-OBG)

Wed Jan 10, 2007 11:10 pm

The Jet 2 B757-200 in Atlasjet C/S currently sitting at Southend UK was registered recently by jet2 from TC-OBG to G-LASF.

Jet2 have since pulled out and the reg G-LASF has been cancelled and the aircraft is now wearing TC-OBG again still sitting in storage at SEN.

Does anyone know why Jet2 pulled out?

Thanks in advance

Its actually TC-OGB, it never wore G-LSAF.

They haven't pulled out, its been re-registered N689GX for storage. It was delivered as TC-OGB on 20 October 2006, re-reg'd G-LSAF 30 October 2006, then as mentioned to N689GX on 5 Jan 07.

They did the same with G-LSAC, delivered as N310FV 8 March 2006, re-reg'd G-LSAC 14 March 2006, re-reg'd N254DG 27 March 2006, re-reg'd G-LSAC 07 April 2006, in service 22 May 2006.

There is currently another Atlas Jet 757 at Southend TC-OGH arrived 19 December, which after a bit of TLC will became G-LSAJ

Hopefully by summer 10 757's should be in service! Maybe by then they will have got round to painting G-LSAD in full livery.

Spanner in the works, I spoke to a Jet2 guy today and he has confirmed that JET 2 have rejected both AtlasJet 757s.
They have been re-registered in the US and are now awaiting confirmation of new lessees/sale.
Jet2 have purchased three B757 aircraft ex China Southern, the first of which should arrived at Southend this evening as G-LSAG.

Bit of a waste of registration I think, why register G-LSAF, and not use it. Must of been more trouble than they are worth from Atlas.

The three ex China Southern, will be the oldest of the fleet, line numbers 144, 148, and 150. Ex registerations: B-2801/2802/2803

Yeap, thats true... I flew many times on this lovely bird back in the '90's- at that point operated by LTU Germany. Well it is an ex EASTERN a/c and "saw already better days" (at that time)! Don't wanna know how it looks today...

Do LS have a mixture of RR/PW 752s then or are they all one type?

Don't think so, all 10 Jet2 757s have been allocated for Jet2 duties next summer already.

I'm not sure on the reg but talking to a jet2 employee yesterday the airline was going to be leasing 1 757 but decided agianst it so I don't know if that is one of them. He also said that by the start of next year the airline plans to have 21 737s and 10 757s in operation although the company is still on the look out for 737-300s. They were going to be taking on 2 737-400s but decided against that which has some sense i guess from a crewing point of view maybe.

Great! I can remember wild stories on this bird. Pilots refused to board passengers through the back door, bcs. the a/c was in & out in such a bad shape... memories...  Big grin

BTW. if you have connections to the guys on work, ask for the emergency equipment! During the work with LTU all equipment were still marked "PROPERTY OF EASTERN"...  bigthumbsup

You have missed out TFS there. BLK is supposed to be remaining a 737 base for this summer.

According to someone on another forum they are not being acquired. They have both have been de-registered and now carry US markings, the reason behind it that there was too much work to be done to get them into service. Additional 737s are now to be sourced, covering for the loss of those 2 757s.
