IB And LTU Interested In Taking Over NM's MAD-TLC!

Sat Jan 13, 2007 6:55 pm

Sorry the article is only in spanish.

http://www.jornada.unam.mx/ultimas/2...upar-rutas-de-air-madrid-en-toluca

to resume, it says that both IB and LTU have an interest in taking over the route between MAD and Toluca due to fact this route was profitable.
However IB is more itnerested in having rights to operate into TLC when its unable to operate into MEX. LTU however might integrate this route in its network! Spanish government allowed LTU to operate into 6 Latin american airports so this might be an interesting one!
A man without the knowledge of his past history, culture and origins is like a tree without roots

Here's some in english:

LTU are said to take over about half of NM's staff as well. And to honor NM's tickets -- for a small fee, 250EUR Big grin
It's been in the headlines for a while, but AFAIK nothing has been confirmed so far. Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia are not to be included - no slots/route rights??

I don't think slots might be a problem, maybe route rights. But I'm pretty sure the colombian govt would be more than interested in having a replacement for NM offering seats to MAD.

Why would IB fly to TLC???
That's nonsense. Believe me, IB will never fly to TLC.

100% AGREE

Iberia has at least 5 other mexican cities to choose, serve, and get profit. The two daily IB flights to MEX sometimes aren´t enough, so this means there IS a good business...Why not trying GDL, MTY, SJD, ACA, CUN...?
