I'm A Gen Av Coward!

Sun Jan 14, 2007 6:30 am

So, I have to admit, I'm a general aviation coward and I am going to have to face my fears head on in March when I travel to a family function in Boston.  ashamed   ashamed

My older brother and my parents jointly own a Cessna 421 similar to this one, and I have avoided flying with them out of complete hysteria.

I'm sure my brother is a great pilot....but.....

It's crazy I know, I've flown on old Twin Otters, DH Herons, Saab's, Lear Jets, etc, but I have this fear getting on anything that doesn't have "airline" as part of the paint job!

OK, flame suit is on....tell me I'm crazy!

DTW, you might see about getting the second-best seat in the house- the one up front that the pilot's not sitting in!

You may find that you are so fascinated with the whole process that your fears will ease. Knowing full well that airline travel is by far the safest means, I am still more comfortable flying myself than I am riding in the back of an aluminum tube.

And the 421 is a fine airplane- you'll have a blast.

Be sure to report back afterwards.
...three miles from BRONS, clear for the ILS one five approach...

So, grab a Sharpie - run out to the plane and scribble DTWCLipperAir just before you're supposed to board  crazy  wink

Interesting phobia . . . I can fly in airplanes but looking down from ANY building - even from inside - scares the crap outta me.

Enjoy the ride . . .

Is Dr. Frazier available?

Perhaps a bottle of a certain kind of over the counter meds would get you out of it.

Indeed. I remember staying at Bally's in Vegas and for some reason looking out that floor - ceiling window next to the elevators (one the 3rd to highest floor) scared the living crap out of me :-/. Yet looking out the window of a plane does no harm to me  Smile

And Mr. Gen av coward. So you would prefer an Airlines 29 inch seat pitch to those seats! Get on that plane! Big grin

It will be some time yet...I'm going Ann Arbor/Boston (don't know what airport) in mid-March.

I was thinking about stenciling "Clipper Raging Queen" on the side...maybe that would help!

Well, my brothers wife is an MD so an Rx may not be out of the question either!
