Qantas Reduces Fuel Surchage Levy

Tue Jan 16, 2007 12:33 pm

As reported:

One question though. I bought 4 domestice QF tickets (transcon) two months and was charged the higher / current levy. Given that I am travelling on these tickets month after next with the aircraft using fuel that is now cheaper can I claim a refund for levy reduction?

Probably not. Just as oil price is based on futures, so is the price you pay for advanced ticket purchases. You are buying a future commitment to fly you somewhere.

If the ticket is refundable or changeable, you might see if you can rebook it for less total cost, but you may not be able to.

Maybe you can call QF and find out?

It's only worth $20 in this case but for amusement maybe it's worth a shot just see what the response will be  Smile
