Good news for the CRJ900 program. Hopefully we can see Delta and Lufthansa order more of these jets and Bombardier can get some new operators as well.

I guess only time will tell...

Cheers,

I second that. Flew aboard one of those cigars last week on the CGN-MUC route and found it to have a very comfortable noise level. I even found the myriad times criticized cross-section to be pretty convenient.

I love these birds! I flew on one in Turkey with KK and it was one of my best short flights ever!

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 16, 2007) - Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Air One, the first privately owned Italian airline company, has signed a contract to acquire an additional four 90-seat Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets. The transaction represents the conversion to firm orders of four options taken when Air One placed its initial order for six CRJ900 aircraft in 2006.

The value of the contract based on CRJ900 aircraft list prices is approximately $142 million US.

"We are very pleased that Air One has decided to order additional CRJ900 aircraft so quickly after their first order. This is a tribute to the reliability and efficiency of the CRJ900 already in service with the airline," said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "The CRJ900 combines passenger comfort with the best economics in its class, and is very environmentally friendly with noise and smoke emissions well below those permitted by international agreements."

Twelve airlines have now placed firm orders for 175 CRJ705 and CRJ900 aircraft. As of October 31, 2006, 90 of these aircraft had been delivered.

If/when Delta order 30 x CR9 the frame will pass the 200-mark. Nice  Smile

Why is LH still waiting to order? FI reported several months ago that LH was considering ordering 10 or so more as they were very pleased with the -900, and they have the money for it. Now that their Italian partner Air One is ordering more, plus Delta's order for 30 and MyAir's 19, the production slots are being taken fast and LH may have to wait a while to get theirs... and rumours say they have too little short-haul capacity right now...?

Lufthansa isn't exactly known for fast orders, just look at how long it took them to order the 748  Wink . With that in mind, if the advertisement Bombardier has put on the February issue of AeroInternational ("100% completion rate for Lufthansa's CRJ-900 fleet"), then no doubt LH will soon be adding more, hopefully also used to replace some more CR1/2s.

Perhaps LH is in talks about the CRJ900X, hence a delay in a follow-on order...?

Speaking of LH's CR9, I notice that they fly the Longer Range (LR) version, but list the range as "only" 2,100km @ 38 tons MTOW while BBD list the LR as having a 3,385km range @ 38 tons MTOW with 86 pax. If LH has the full MTOW, why don't they have the full range too?

I'd like to see drawings of what canadair wants the -900x to look like. Hope we'll know something soon. I actually like the CR7/CR9. good looking plane and my fit body fits the seats just fine. I just dont like the standard seats. i enjoy ASA's and Flyi's seats and CHQ's crj seats look great as well.

Go to www.flightglobal.com and type in CRJ900X as search word and you'll find a drawing. www.bombardier.com also have photoshop pics of the 9X in various news- and market outlook-overviews. The 9X looks nice, me thinks.

Has Air One's competitor MyAir taken their first CRJ900 yet? Their website show pics of the aircraft in Montreal dated 19 Dec 2006...

from what i got to know, there will either be an order for regional jets in spring, perhaps even still in the first quarter, or if not, then very likely in fall. chances are very good that LH will convert options into firm orders.
the rumors you are referring to are in fact quite true.
