AC Plane At DAL?

Thu Jan 18, 2007 6:58 am

During one of the numerous weather reports today, they showed their (WFAA) Love Field "cam" and there on the tarmac was an AC a/c- looked to be an Embraer. Any ideas?

They operate the ER175 and 190s frequently into DFW out of YYZ--must be a diversion?

Not likely- DAL and DFW are really close to each other and endure nearly the same weather at any given time. It's got to be mx, but I can;t imagine why DAL would be servicing this a/c.

Could be. That makes the most sense so far.

The Calgary Flames are in town to play the Dallas Stars tonight. Most teams coming to play the Stars or Mavericks at the AAC will fly into DAL as it's a lot closer to downtown Dallas then DFW.

You'd be surprised  Wink DFW pretty much creates it's own weather systems or splits the cells. We used to watch the big storms roll over DFW and there'd be nothing but light showers by the time the "storm" hit DAL. We had many diversions from AA on the field when there was bad weather at DFW.

Most likely is the hockey game, though  Wink

Wouldn't a hockey team have a private jet with an executive lay-out?

Isn't it weird how the entire DFW area can just split apart a weather system? I swear, it is due to all the heat produced in the area by the concrete, exhaust fumes, etc..............

Or Global Warming !!  Smile

For the most part NHL teams charter the flying out Most canadian teams use AC, nashville uses Midwest, Chicago uses UA(at least last time I checked they did), The Red Wings have a private jet they share with the Tiger's. Most NHL teams don't have the money to operate a private jet since they operate on a fairly small budget.

Well I know The Dallas Stars share a 727 with The Texas Rangers since the teams are owned by the same man, but I would think a hockey team needs a bigger plane than a E-170 or E-190, wouldn't they?

Columbus Blue Jackets own a DC-9 that was formerly with Legend Airlines. I bet that is a nice ride.

Back on New Years Day in 1979, flying on a DL DC8 between LAX and DFW, we diverted to Love because of ice at the destination. (Worked out anyway because we lived out by White Rock Lake at the time)

At the time, DFW was out on the prairie with not much around, while DAL, of course was surrounded by the city, and a little warmer because of the heat retained by the surrounding infrastructure.

It's not that unusual for the weather to be that different, happens in many places.....like between PUB and COS recently. Overnight lows were 5 in COS, while it was -5 in PUB, and they are not that far apart.....one could get hit hard by snow, the other could get none.
Weather can be very discriminating.

Could be one of the Air Canada Jetz aircraft which are configured with premium cabin layouts. We see them pretty frequently at LAX for both sprts team and entertainment industry charters.

Near all deliveries for North America arrive via FLL where Embraer has facilities.

Just listening to the Calgary Flames-Dallas Stars game and according to the color commentator, the plane was at DFW, but since DFW was short on de-icing fluid it got moved to DAL where there apparently is de-icing fluid so the Flames could get out tonight.

I dunno if anyone wants to buy it, but if Pierre McGuire says it, it must be true!
