BN Texas Cowboy CRS

I read somewhere that American Airlines purchased the old
BN Texas Cowboy system after Braniff I shut down...
what did Braniff II and Braniff III use then?

I assume that AA purchased the system to eliminate
a big competitor from using it again...I read somewhere that
Southwest today uses the "shell" of Texas Cowboy system.

any information ?

BN II (Braniff Inc.) Used SABRE.

Cowboy was interesting. The trainers at BN told me that when II started, Cowboy was hardly functional. They did continue to use BN's loading program.

AMR Airline Automation (A Subsidiary of AMR, now SABRE) purchased the old Cowboy system to market it to small carriers as a part of a new business venture. It was renamed SAAS. They also marketed SABRE to other carriers. Southwest was one of the first users. Others included (at some point) L'express, Great Lakes, AeroSur, etc. I think the software now resides on the SABRE mainframe in TUL but is separate functionality. AMR also hired alot of the former Cowboy programmers and analysts. They were great people!
