Virgin America Plane At SFO

Sun Jan 21, 2007 7:18 am

Hey everyone, not really an exciting topic but this morning I noticed a Virgin America plane parked at the remote parking spot at SFO. It was parked next to the A-terminal parking garage. anyone know why it was here?

since I couldn't see the registration of the aircraft I doubt its the aircraft that is from the discussion posted above. However, Since the DOT had not given the approval to V.A. to operate its flights, whats the purpose of the aircraft coming to SFO to just sit by the international terminal? It's not like SFO doesn't see enough 320's to become familiar with it. Or is it more of a marketing situation? Show the plane, and grow interest in the airline.

Since they are not even flying yet how many planes do you think they have? I would say it is most likely the same plane.

VA have flown their aircraft into SFO off and on since 10/06. They have leased some of their delivered aircraft to various carriers while awaiting DOT approval. Recently, they submitted their revised application to DOT and various concerns have until the 30th to respond.

As far as why they moved it from Signature over to the A-International terminal? They could be preparing it for service to depart SFO. I also saw it there when leaving SFO this afternoon. Nothing new.

Actually they have somewhere between 6-9 planes if I am not mistaken. There are a few in upstate NY sitting around as well. Stealth, your right that it could be a marketing thing. Show locals that VA is sitting and waiting. But till all is resolved, they will continue to do just that, sit and wait. They had a one point 2 planes at the same time at SFO. This could be the same plane or different. But same ole story.

yup same ol' story. just really interested into those workers that left other jobs to pursue a career at Virgin America and just be forced to be grounded for the time being.
