Hehe, of course it is the Presidential one of course (glad its brakes are working again!). The ones that do have rubbish interiors were purposely made that way by the customer...

Probably Gasputin told himself: "I'm rich trough oil and gas, and I rule undemocratic, just like an Arabian dictator, so I might as well have a plane fitted like they do."

Well, for the owner of a country only the best is good enough.

However they should have engaged an interrior designer. The furnishing is nouveau riche white trash mobile home.

Does anyone else think it looks a little cramp in that conference room. The legroom for those white leather chairs don't look too good either. How do they recline being up against the bulkheads like that?

One other thing, what is the function of that toilet looking thing next to the actual toilet? Plus I don't see toilet paper or three sea shells, whats the deal?  Big grin

Why would you need a bidet on a plane??

The interior is tacky and wonderfully stuck in the 1980s with the beige, turquoise, mauve, and brass theme going on there.

The overhead bins in a normally outfitted IL96 are more antiquated in design than those on a DC-10 for instance. Things like that simply need to be improved.

The problem is, if no one buys your airplanes, there is no money for upgrades.

It's odd for their to be a bidet as I have never seen one in Russia and as far as I know there is no culture of their use; hell, something like 30% of Russians don't have indoor plumbing (using an outhouse in Umba at -25C is not fun, let me tell you!)...

Quite a bit over the top. Get as much fake marble, burnished wood and anything gold or golden into the sucker as you can. Looks like they had a bunch of designers in that plane that didn't coordinate the themes with each other.

The prayer corner even has a Russian bible. For what? Putin is not exactly known for going to church on Sunday. I hope those flag standards are bolted to the floor. I'd hate to see heavy turbulence or a hard landing upending them with Putin as the target for the spear or the double-headed Russian eagle.

As for the bidet, every Russian with "valuta" thinks it is a must for the home or apartment. During my two years on assignment there we had one in our bathroom, but it wasn't connected, because there were no pipes to connect the water. My wife used it as a planter.

The wealthy do not "need" PTVs, IFEs and the like. Those devices are for "us", the lowly commoners. They write the "programming" for us to consume voraciously, and we do....unfortunately.

Jeez...that's cheesy. I heard that this particular Il96 cost 300M$ (plane+gear onboard) and is grounded right now beacuse of tech problems. Putin is peddaling around in Il62M for time being.

I'm no sure if that is considered classy in Russia / CIS states, but to me it is rather gaudy and tacky. Way too much gold usage. But, I've never been a fan of gold, anyways.

I prefer modern, clean lines.

Its not the in side that I'm worried about. Some of these older aircraft and not safe. I don't know if they are not getting the maintenance or they can't get the correct parts for them and they have to make them. Either way the IL's, Yak's, and Tupolof's are droping out of the sky like crazy. Can anyone answer as to why????

Thats not really true at all. Russian planes are often regarded as being more sturdy than Airbus or Boeings, crashes occur sometimes which have little to to with the planes themselves, comeing down to poor maintance and/or poor procedure.

I find this interior very gawdy. It seems like a stripper would be danceing on these poles. What a waste of money. And i question the authenticity of the leather as well
