Sun Country To Start DFW-ANC

Mon Jan 29, 2007 2:09 am

Sun Country online flights schedule is showing 3 Weekly DFW-ANC flights this summer. Will be Sun Country's 3rd DFW destination after MSP and Cancun

Also are they stopping MSP-Laughlin this summer? No flights showing in their timetable but I thought they had kept a reduced service in past summers?

I was wondering why Sun Coutry flew to Laughlin. Seems like DFW is second in Sun Country flights.

Sun Country has a business relationship with one of the casinos in Laughlin...can't remember which one, though.

The agreement is with the Riverside Hotel and Casino. There is also a very loyal base of MSP pax that fly to the desert, winter or summer, and not only for the gambling, but golf as well and other outdoor activities. The IFP airport also serves more than just the gambling community of Laughlin, because people throughout nothern and northwestern Arizona are discovering Sun Country flights out of IFP. When they did offer IFP-DEN flights last year, I booked a family of 4 on Sun Country that had to travel last minute for a funeral service, and being here in Prescott, about 2 1/2 hours away, the family traded PHX flights last minute for the IFP service and paid just under half what they would have by driving to PHX. Wish they still had the PDX/SEA service as well, but guess other routes proved more successful than some of the IFP service.

Sun Country will be starting the flight but it will go through MSP. I saw this the other day but when I looked at it more in detail, it shows is as a thur flight. It does look like the inbound flight from ANC will overnight in DFW though.

"Will be Sun Country's 3rd DFW destination after MSP and Cancun" That will be the forth Sun Country also flies to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico seasonly.

That is correct. This agreement was first started in January 2002 when Sun Country was in bankruptcy. It was key to getting SY back in the air (rather than liquidating) because it provided guaranteed revenues.

They will compete against a daily DFW-ANC AA 757.

Maybe the DFW-ANC-DFW is a cruise deal?
More of that guaranteed revenue.....maybe?
As in picking up northbound cruise pax, or dropping off those going southbound?

Wouldn't bet against it.

It is amazing how many more flights and airlines we have the summer then the winter.
