Lufthansa's Website About Their Inflight Entert.

Mon Jan 29, 2007 5:21 am

According to http://www.lufthansa.com/online/port...vices/on_board?l=en&nodeid=1771529 , it seems as if they are upgrading their Long-Haul Fleet to have AVOD. Someone within Lufthansa, please confirm this? This would be so cool!!
Last flights: LH 3738 MUC - ZRH , LH 3749 ZRH - MUC . Upcoming: EK 50 MUC - DXB 3-aug. and EK 322 DXB - ICN 7- Aug.

It's true, but only in F and business class.

Well but what does it mean by "Economy Class passengers can choose between 24 radio programmes and watch their feature films continuously in up to eight languages." ?

yes! they put their headphones in to the hole of the armrest and could choose the language by selecting the channel.  Wink the video is shown at the screens inside the cabin.

doesnt it hurt lufthansa that they are one of the only remaining (1st world) carriers not to offer PTV'S for longhaul in economy. I believe United is the same right??? Well at least they have channel 8.

It's a shame. But it seems that the passengers don't care. None of the German airlines flying long haul (Condor and LTU) have PTV. So I guess most of the German customers don't expect PTVs.

We've been told that we can tell our customers that PTV's will be installed in Y. Expect them in the Airbuses beginning of 2008. Test aircraft will be installed with the new system this April.

All of United's internationally-configured 777's and 767 have PTV in economy.

Let's not forget those lovely 757's that the American carriers are starting to use. None of those have Y PTV's. AA's, DL's, and US's 767 should be added as well

Being a regular customer in LH's Y class myself, most of the flights I'm on are sold out, so apparently it's not hurting LH.

CO's first aircraft with AVOD will be the 757s and it will be in both cabins

All of them are getting it, particularly DL.

It's true, but only in F and business class.

I have heard other internal rumors about this. According to those rumors LH got pressed from other Star members to upgrade their entertainment systems in the Y-class including PTV.
Maybe the PTV-free era in the LH Y-class is coming to it´s end, assuming the rumors prove to be true...

Ok, but I was referring to the website where only the premium classes are mentioned. Anyway, we still have to wait.

Maybe UA will get "pressed" re: it's 744's too.
