Emirates started in 1985 with a leased A300 and a B737-300 from PIA of Pakistan. Emirates first new aircraft was the A310-300 which they started to receive in 1987. Due to the great success the carrier it has steadily grown its fleet and the size of the aircraft it operates. A300-600, B777-200/300's and A330-200 are currently flown along the side of the origional A310's. Emirates has the A340-500 on order and was a launch customer for the Airbus A3XX.
