This route is popular because of, tourist, VFR traffic, business travellers or a combination of them all?

Its probably a combination of all. I think all the European carriers who fly to MEX have enjoyed success.

I think you are right. It is great to the widebodies in the evening at MEX, a bit like a mini JFK.

This upgrade has been announced a while ago and has a lot to do with the fact that Air France has to allocate the B744s which come off the COI routes which are being returned to a mainline configuration as more B77Ws in COI configuration join the AF fleet.

At the same time, one should also notice that Aeromexico, AF's partner on the CDG MEX route has significantly downgraded its offerings on the route. AM is no longer bringing its flagship B772 to CDG and is now operating a daily B767 there, in codeshare with AF as AF432.

A mix of 762 and 763.

As far as I remember, the codeshare is with AF438 (CDG-MEX) and AF439 (MEX-CDG) with T7. The A343 flights are AF434 and AF435.

The AM's T7 are deployed to:

  • MEX-TIJ-NRT - 2X.
  • MEX-MAD - 6X.
  • MEX-GRU - 6X.

With the arrival of the 4th T7*, CDG will likely have 2X T7 weekly service by mid-year:

  • MEX-TIJ-NRT - 3X.
  • MEX-MAD - 7X
  • MEX-GRU - 7X.
  • MEX-CDG - 2X.

* If she ever arrives  Wink

Aeromexico flew the 777 to CDG for only a couple of months, so one can say this has been a 767 route. I wonder how many Air France passengers connect in ATL and JFK on DL???
