BA To Riga Cancelled?

Tue Jan 30, 2007 10:08 pm

Just tried to book some BA tickets roundtrip LGW - RIX (Riga, Latvia) in July and August and the current direct flight is not being listed anymore. Instead the service offered is on finnair via Helsinki. Does anybody know if this route is being droped for summer or cancelled permenatly..if so I wonder why BA cant make a success of there baltic routes as they pulled out of Vilnius last year and have never had a service to Tallin..to much LCC competition?? Any info would be great, cheers.

Just answered my own question on ba.com.

Services from London Gatwick to Riga, Athens and Newcastle have been discontinued from March 27th 07. Instead Newquay is returning..rubbish! Im suprised RIX hasn't worked out for them. Looks like ill have to pass my business over to SAS from now on!

Why should u do that? If you use SAS, you will have to transfer through CPH or STO. So I might as well use Finnair through HEL which is also in cooperation with BA. Finnair is way above SK.
Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

LGW-KBP is also cancelled. I wonder why! I used to fly this route a lot and the plane was always full (and at least two hours late!) in both cabins.

LGW flights were in addition to LHR flights. LGW were so conveniently (for some) scheduled!

Maybe Ryanair opening operations at RIX kind of helped BA to fail there...

Fly the AY code-share, you can fly BA metal all the way to HEL and then it's only around 40 min to RIX.
AY and ANA rock!

- Agreed, I'd much rather fly AY + think of the extra miles & tierage points  Smile

ATH was only a seasonal route operated in the summer months, I am surprised that the NCL is going that always seemed popular.
upcoming flights LHR-LAX-HNL-SFO-LHR
