Lufthansa CEO Wants More Mergers In Europe

Hello,

Aero :

LONDON (DPA) - Lufthansa boss Wolfgang Mayrhuber has advertised to other unions between European airlines in the competition with US-American Airlines. Airlines of Europe would have to recognise the chance of the common action, said Mayrhuber of "Financial Times" (Monday issue). " Otherwise will sell we us bit by bit to supplier from the USA or the Middle East. " After the no of Lufthansa for the takeover of the groggy Alitalia taken care Mayrhuber to damp expectations, Lufthansa can swallow in the foreseeable future another European competitor. The Lufthansa boss about operating the finance-strong competitors from the Arabian space, under it of emirate, and the coalescence attempts expressed fears between US societies. There is the danger that in the USA a competitor " by 1000 airplanes " originates. The Europeans would have to arm themselves against it. Consequences are necessary for the case that the USA would not bring for an opening of her airline market. Up to now foreign airlines may take part only with up to 25 percent in US-American Airlines.

They should invent a better internet translater first. Horrible!

As usual, Mayrhuber brings it to the point. He is running a tight ship with LH and profit is more important than market share. Good show.

On the low side of the market, AZ is losing 1 Million Euro a day and across the pond mergers and acquisition bankers are trying to prove for the umpteenst time that 2 x - nakes + . It does, in their own pockets in the form of fees and boni. The merged mega carriers will fail again and see the chapter 11 bankruptcy judges for another time. Good againfor the laywers, another couple of hundred millions in fees.

Hard times for companies with a straight business plan? Walk the line, Mr. Mayrhuber. Quality and sound financial stability will always succeed.

SK>AY wouldn't work, Finnair is lot smaller than SAS but in a much better shape.
Actually Finnair has said they would be interested in buying SAS's long haul division  Smile

As long as they don't migrate to OW, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Lufthansa already has 30% stakeof BMI, with an agreed deal for another 51% in the future, I thought they had a stake in SAS and OS as well ?

I think its 20% and they wish that Bishop will never force them to exercise that option.

It's a lousy deal for LH and a good one for Bishop. SAS might be an option in he long run but OS will rather go other ways. I mean, how many hubs does LH need in that region?

I don't think LH has a stake in SK, but I'm not sure about the others.
I might be wrong though.

I could see them taking over, or increasing the stake in an airline in the UK, no prizes for guessing which one I am thinking of in light of that airline taking over another UK airline!!!

I agree LH should buy othr airlines in oither regions like BD or JK , but IMO SK would be the best Takeover by LH .

Lufthansa has no stake in SAS

Depends on how you define "better shape". SAS has again become a money maker, though the results are far from impressing. However the same should be said about Finnair. Actually I am not sure that either has any reason to point fingers at the other  Wink

Yeah you are right, no pointing, but SK going for AY not realistic now.

I think that I said that LH would rather nix the present stock option for BD. LH is alway very cautious when it comes to investments. Air Dolomiti made sense, O am not sure of JK or SK would.

The ball game will change anyhow once the new rules are set, meaning that traffic rights will be under EU control.

Perhaps LH goes for SAS, and BA goes for Finnair + Icelandic and volá, a big part of Northern-Europe is organized!  Smile And EU would be happy too?
