The 2006 numbers for airports have started rolling in, and the final tally for South Florida's airports, for the first time in a long time, shows Miami up, while the other two airlines are down.
Largely thanks to a significant increase in American Airlines flights, traffic at MIA was up a healthy 4.92%, or approximately 1.5M passengers, to 32.53M.
Traffic at Fort Lauderdale was down, largely due to the reduction of Delta Connection flights and the closing of focus cities by AA and US. Traffic declined 4.6%, roughly 1M, to 21.4M passengers.
At West Palm Beach traffic only fell slightly by 2.8% (.18M passengers) to 6.8M.
Overall, South Florida's airports carried roughly 60.7M passengers in 2006.
