Etihad Confirms Toronto Nonstop

Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:59 am

Hi,

Etihad's nonstop flight YYZ-AUH-YYZ flight has been loaded into the Sabre GDS systems

check 7th Aug YYZ-AUH...flown by an A 340-300 on tues-thu-sat

EY 141 F9 A2 J9 C6 D2 AUHYYZ 0205 0840 343 H 0 246 DCA /E
Y9 B9 H4 K4 M4 Q0 L0 V0 T0

EY 140 F9 A2 J9 C6 YYZAUH 1020 0745‡1 343 H 0 246 DCA /E
D2 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 Q0 L0 V0 T0

DEP AUH 0205
ARR YYZ 0840

DEP YYZ 1020
ARR AUH 0745+1

Since its flown with an A 343, I expect it to be payload restricted BIG TIME just like KUs JFK-KWI-JFK flight was when it was flown with the A 343s nonstop for 3-4 years.

Also EY have changed their flight timings for many Indian Subcontinent destinations enabling it to connect with their newly timed JFK and YYZ flights.

Initialy it will be a A345 service, but it will change to the A343 soon after.

I don't know what will happen to the KUL/AUH service as that is scheduled to be operated by the A343 (6x weekly). Maybe a case of re-placing the aircraft is needed.

Anyway I'm sure the schedule will please the YYZ spotters (daytime arrival and departure!!)  Wink

Are there any plans to upgrade to the A345 or the T7 or increasing frequency ?

I was beginning to wonder what the hold up was... any news on a frequency increase?

Hi Behramjee....

Is this in addition to the AUH-BRU-YYZ flight or is it going to replace the flight?

Replacement. The BRU flight will terminate there, and return to AUH.

The reason for the A343, is I presume the shortage of long-haul aircraft. The 4 A340-500's will be tied up with Sydney and New York. There have been several rumours of LAX, but things change so fast with EY you never know until the first flight takes off...

The other aircraft with the range will be the A340-600's, which only start arriving in June/July at the earliest, and the 77W's which are too big for that route.

what will happen with BRU? discontinue this route or go daily?

I am very suprised about A6-EYC - the one and only A343 in their fleet. It began to operate only the route AUH-LGW, than switched to AUH-FRA for several months, now it flies AUH-KUL and afterwards AUH-YYZ...
take into account that this is a non-EY-manufactured plane (ex SQ).

Beggars can't be choosers. When you have a shortage of long-haul aircraft, you unfortunately can't throw away EYC, and EYV & EYW (and EYZ for that matter too), just because they aren't as nice as the others.

yes I know that situation. Every plane is needed if you are growing like that. And it was meant in a positive way by me  Wink I personally love A343's and would prefer more in their fleet, but the A332 are beautiful, too.

I suppose the demand on this route isn't that high. Sometimes I saw a lot of pax flying in with SN from BRU to FRA and continue here to AUH. I think this will go on, because of the code-share agreement between SN and EY

There are rumours flying around a.net that SN will launch flights to Canada, thus there will be no need for them to code share any longer, especially when you consider the fact that the AUH flight will terminate at BRU, thereby making it difficult to codeshare (unless of course EY feeds passengers to the SN flight - which may be possible as the YUL will likely be SN's Canadian destination, someone else will have to confirm if YYZ is even being considered).

According to yyznews.com it is YYZ that is likely to be served by SN not YUL .
" New Canada Route? ---the airline has signed a letter of intent with AerCap to add a fourth A330-300 to its long -haul fleet. The aircraft belonged to Air Madrid, which suspended operations in December. The SN Brussels network may include some destinations in North America and "it is expected that the carrier will operate from Brussels to Toronto with its own aircraft later this year. Currently, it code-shares on the route with Etihad Airways flights. Etihad however, plan to start operating non-stop from Abu-Dhabi to Toronto later in 2007. No specific schedule information is available yet. "

It will be YUL.

ATWonline assumed that it would be YYZ, after a quote from the VP of Planning said "North American destination".

Word is SN should be announcing YUL 3 weekly within the month with their 4th A330-300 coming from Air Madrid.

According the Belgian 's aviation enthusiats reference website, the 4th A330 for SN has landed at BRU this morning!

Good the see EY flying nonstop to YYZ as long as they keep their AUH-BRU!

Now, am I the only one to wonder how you get rid of the soup smell and clean up an A340 after such a long flight with a turnaround time of 100 mins?
I want the European Union flag on airliners.net!

One would have thought that, although in the amadeus DCS on 12th June Etihad have two flights operating YYZ-AUH:

1) EY502 dep YYZ 00:15 arr AUH 23:35 A332 via BRU
2) EY140 dep YYZ 10:20 arr AUH 07:45 +1 A345 non-stop

Possibly a mistake...

The load/range tables would suggest that it won't be too painful. Not sure how close the passenger ready weight is to the OEW of 265,000lb in the chart, but based on the chart OEW it is good for a close to 80,000lb payload over about 6300nm which will be close to the still air distance, westbound. Full passenger load is shown as about 68000lb.

Etihad Airways has officially confirmed more changes to its Summer 2007 schedule which will come into effect from May-June 2007 :

Lahore - increased to daily nonstop service from AUH using an A 332 thrice a week, B 773ER twice a week and a B 763ER twice a week.

Karachi - increased to 10 weekly nonstop service from the current daily operation using an A 343 five times a week, a B 763ER four times a week and an A 332 once a week.

Islamabad - increased to 8 weekly nonstop flights from Abu Dhabi using an A 332 4 times a week, an A 343 once a week and a B 763ER thrice a week.

Brussels - dedicated 3 weekly terminator flights from AUH using an A 330-200. Flights to be launched from June 4th on Mon, Wed and Fri with an afternoon departure from AUH.

EY will now send the A 340-600 to YYZ instead of the A 343 from August onwards.

I think that the YYZ route will be the inaugural route for EYs A 346 fleet.

BRU should be thrice weekly for this summer (Mo, We, Fr) with an A332. And code-share with SN will remain (it's shown on CRS).

But really I don't understand that A343 decision for YYZ... I always thought YYZ was one of EY's most desired route. But if the 346 goes to Canada, it'd be a major upgrade.

Initially YYZ will see the A345 starting June/07 followed by an upgrade to their A346s in Aug/07?

Shame it's still only thrice weekly.
