Enhanced Codeshare For Avianca & Delta

Fri Feb 02, 2007 11:26 pm

"Avianca Airlines of Colombia have announced an extension of their codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines of the US. This will allow Avianca passengers to travel on five new routes under the codeshare agreement.

These are: Altlanta to New York (Newark), Miami to Atlanta, Miami to New York (La Guardia),Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale to New York ( JFK).

Delta Air Lines is the second largest airline in the world in terms of destinations served.

Fabio Villegas Ramirez, President of Avianca, commented that the new arrangements will benefit passengers in terms of single ticket travel, short connection times and better control of interlining baggage"

Just whilst on the subject of AV expansion of flights..

Avianca will increase flights to LIM to 11 weekly. As far as I understand, they will add two in the next few weeks, and increase to 4 additional flights by April.
According to Amadeus these flights will be operated by 767s, and the schedule is as follows:

Mon, Weds, Sat and Sun: BOG 1340 - 1435 LIM
Return: LIM 1535 - 2035 BOG

AV tried extra flights to LIM, with a stop in UIO, but that was withdrawn. It was partly blamed in an increase of UIO landing fees.

I trust that AV have done their homework and that they can make this flight work.

My question is, where are they pulling an a 767 out of, or is there another one joining the fleet, as has been expected?

Additionally, EZE is already 5 x weekly. It is only programmed so until the beginning of April. The bilateral only allows for 4 x weekly frequencies, so the fifth must have been given only temporarily, perhaps pending a review of the agreement.

Good for them. Especially now that Copa is with SkyTeam. Good for all involved.
Why fly with 2 engines when you can have 3?

Quoting Summa767 (Reply 1):
Mon, Weds, Sat and Sun: BOG 1340 - 1435 LIM
Return: LIM 1535 - 2035 BOG

I realise my own mistake
It should be:Mon, Weds, Sat and Sun: BOG 1340 - 1635 LIM
Return: LIM 1735 - 2035 BOG
