KLM And PrivatAir

Sun Feb 04, 2007 7:24 am

I heard a rumour that KLM will use former PH-BZO (a B767-306ER sold to Privatair not so long ago) as a replacement for the B737BBJ currently used on the AMS>IAH>AMS route. If this is true when will the first flight be?

I don't believe this is true. The new 767 is for the private charter fleet, where it joins the 757 HB-IEE, BBJ HB-IIO, etc.

You know, I seem to recall reading when this service first started (replacing the KL 763 that was used on the route}, that Privat Air/KL planned on upgrading the IAH service to a larger airframe at a future date. So perhaps there is something to this rumor.

There may be something to this rumour, but I am fairly certain that the recently acquired B767 is not for this purpose.

PrivatAir's press release states that: "PrivatAir will take delivery of the Boeing 767-300ER in December and carry out an extensive re-fit to offer clients the world’s first widebody airliner in VIP configuration for charter starting in April next year." (See here for press release).

It could well be that a larger aircraft is to be used on the AMS-IAH route some time in the future though.

Fine. I've seen almost full flights most days.

The rumour I heard is that instead of a wet lease it will be a dry lease, as for as cockpit crew at least. A KL pilot told me, he was all excited about going gliding (those winglets  Cool)
I wish that all skies were orange and blue!!
