Good news for Venice if this it true. Would it be the airports only scheduled long-haul link?? I know USairways used to fly to PHL with a 762 but am unsure if this still operates.

US to PHL is seasonal I think. DL also have Venice service (and have done for a number of years) and EK start Dubai later this year. May also be some other less frequent routes

This wouldn't surprise me at all, Venice is a growing long haul market.
In any case CO needs a 762 to fly EWR-VCE (4169 mi) since a 752, wingletted or not, wouldn't be able to go westbound without restrictions.

Yes, DL has had JFK-VCE for years now (daily in the summer and 4-5x weekly in the winter). ATL-VCE started last summer (4 or 5x weekly) and is also operating this winter (3x weekly IIRC).

I'd like to see EWR-LYS with a 752 if only 5 weekly. I'd be using that one a lot.

Any plan they fly to Moscow SVO or DME from EWR?
It would be a very successful route.

There have been many talks about it...and it seems to be a likely bid now that PVG is out of the question.

Yes, but you have to book really soon.

They have to wait until Virgin Nigeria gets the go.

What about CAI? I haven't heard anything, but I think it is something of an undeserved market from the US... and a 762ER could do it, right?

I don't think you are going to see too many more announcements for 2007 service being that we are limited on long haul aircraft and still need some 757 lift domestically until we get the 737-900ER's in 2008/9. We do fly charters to Moscow and have a simulator period devoted to this airport for our 757/767 pilots in the 767 simulator. In 2008 I'm betting you see a lot of expansion announcements. We'll be getting the new airplanes for 2009/2010 flying therefore 2008 should prove to be interesting in seeing just what kink airline Continental plans to be.

the 787s should really give CO good breathing room along with the 739s giving them more flexibility with their 757s/762s

We do fly charters to Moscow

These charters are few and far between. Last one we did was when Bush went to Russia. Wish we had more, but not likely, at least not to Moscow (charter that is).

Quoting IAHERJ (Reply 19):
being that we are limited on long haul aircraft and still need some 757 lift domestically

We have 41 752s and still have room to grow internationally with them. We are seeing increased flying to LIS, MAD, CDG, AMS, GLA and EDI, to name a few.

As long as we get 'thinner' routes to European cities that need a 757, we'll be fine for a few more. We are getting more 738s this year, eventhough we are retiring/returning 733s, to supplement any 752s flying domestically.

According to CO's PC schedule (looked at a Thursday in July), it looks like 28 752's are locked into international service.

I count a total of 38 European flights daily
752 - 24 RTs, 762 - 5 RTs, 764 - 6 RTs, 772 - 7 RTs. Does not include 772's to TLV, DEL, HKG, NRT, PEK

752S opeRate a daily roundtrip in these EWR markets
ARN, CDG, SNN, SNN/DUB, AMS, BCN, BFS, BRS, CGN, CPH, EDI, EDI, GLA, HAM, LGW, LGW, MAN, MAN, OSL
Plus one aircraft on GLA-EWR days 2347 and CDG-EWR X234
Plus 752s on these routes (one unit each)
CLE-LGW, EWR-LIM, IAH-LIM, IAH-UIO
There are VERY limited 757 flights on LAX-EWR/IAH, IAH-EWR, EWR-MCO.

It looks like the 752/753 routing are not assigned at this point.

While I'd love to see more stations opened in Europe, it looks like added operations on the following routes is growing markets instead of adding markets.
EWR-LGW, 3RT
EWR-CDG, 3RT
EWR-FCO, 2RT (probably also flew in 2006)
EWR-AMS, 2RTs
EWR-EDI 2 RTs (probably also flown in 2006)
EWR-MAD 2 RTs

EWR-LIS 2x this summer

We still have a few 757s to grow with.

Thanks for catching my error. That would make it 40 across the pond to Europe daily and 30 752s tied up in international service. I agree that there are probably a few 752 aircraft left to allocate and maybe a wide body or two.

EWR Cabin crew, it looks to me like the 2 new 777's are flying EWR-BRU and EWR-FRA, even though FRA was a 777 last summer. I see all 18 allocated with a long ground time in IAH that can stretch from 1355 to 1110 the next day. There are several oppotunities at EWR for maintneance with long turns to/from Europe and irregular "non-European" type arrivals NRT 1630, PEK 1730, TLV 1650 & 0445, DEL 0435, HKG 1405, turning to TLV 1605 & 2250, NRT 1050, HKG 1500, PEK 1215, DEL 2045. That leaves a lot of different routing possiblities.

It looks to me like there may only be 15 764s in the schedule at this point and maybe only 9 762s. That would leave one of each for expansion, unless they are tied up in maintneance or held off as spares.

CALPSAFltSkeds, also HKG goes daily from 6x weekly shortly. I know that the 777 gets swapped out for IAH flying in NRT, CDG and LGW. These are the only cities that IAH and EWR jointly serve with the 777, since the 777 does not go between the two bases.

According to the PC computer sked, EZE is a 772 south on Th and north on Fri and only operates from 2/9/07 to 3/31/07.
There must be a 772 spare or maintnance aircraft in IAH except Friday to do the EZE run. The 772 must free up a 762 for maintnenace Thusrday night -Sat morning would be my guess.

Thanks CALMSP. FWIW, I don't see flight 51 from EWR-IAH as a 777 on Saturdays, I see it as a 762. I see IAH-EWR as a 777, flight 52, though on Saturdays. Thursdays are 777s both ways (flights 40/51)

Our HTA (Houston International flying) bid packets show Saturday flying on the 777 as IAH-EWR one way, the crew deadheads back to IAH.

I do stand corrected, though about swapping out the 777s. Thanks again, CALMSP.
