Official: TG Increasing US Now Daily To JFK!

Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:52 am

This seems odd following the recent post that they were discontinuing US nonstop flights... Not sure what the rational is, some say they are losing money others say it's necessary to have a presence in the nonstop USA market, nonetheless:

From the ThaiUsa.com website

THAI AIRWAYS Increases Flights between the United States and Bangkok Starting MAY 1, 2007

this seems to be the last ditch effort for TG to try and see if the ultra long haul flights to USA from BKK would work or not.

however, i would bet on these flights losing more money with the added frequencies because of the very large number of premium class seats that go empty when more Premium Economy or regular economy class seats could have been added which are more easier to fill up.

Do we know for a fact they're losing money? I'm not so sure.

These changes were loaded in the schedules before they then announced that they may cut the non stop flights. It's good that TG are going daily to JFK, hopefully this may bring more pax and give TG a reason to try and keep the non stops going.

There was talk of Thai halting all nonstop flights to LAX and JFK in favor of a one stop 747-400 flight because of the loss of profits.

I hope the expanded frequencies will result in profits for TG. I saw this morning from the window of JFK's T3 rotunda a beautiful TG A345 parked at a gate in T4 and I felt a great emotion... it would be sad if TG left JFK... even if it started offering one-stop flights with a different aircraft type.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738
