Air China And The Star Alliance

Thu Feb 08, 2007 6:48 am

I heard that CA was thinking about joining Star, is that true?

I did a search for the topic and came up empty, so if its been discussed, this can be deleted.

Air China and Shanghai Airlines will both join Star alliance later this year. Air China will be under-going a major overhaul of its booking classes around March (or Spring time) to match the Star equivalents.

I wonder if finally you will be able to earn 100% mileage with UA and have it count for Elite status as well when flying CA?

Once CA has officially joined the alliance, all eligibal flights will count towards elite status. Can't be sure whether the lowest fares will earn 100% mileage as this is determined by the operating airlines. CA and FM's entry has been delayed until the end of 2007.

This should be in effect already since UA and CA have FFP partnerships already, but not too sure

The milage doesnt count for Elite Status. And as of now, you only get 70% of the milage. My guess is both of those will change when CA joins Star.
