WN/TZ BHM To HNL

Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:09 am

This flight was available to book on both companies web sites, but now either have this option available.

What happened to this code share city pair?

The TZ route map still has the connecting flight available, but the WN site has been updated, not showing it available.

http://www.ata.com/reservations/routemap.html

http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/routemap_dyn.html?ref=wwf_fgn

Any clues?

Book it on TZ than, it's there and can be done but WN's website doesn't always show all available flights because of the amount of connections one can make. WN just released their schedule out to August today so put in the dates your looking for and see what they say.

Book it on TZ

It's just on the ATA route map, not available for booking on either web site.

What was the actual route here? In other words, what was the connecting city (or cities)? Perhaps a sked change just made it unfeasible, or a complex routing made it undesireable, or there were too many misconnects d/t tight conx that made them decide not to offer it anymore. Through LAS, for example, the conx going BHM-HNL isn't too bad, like 1:15 wait, but the conx coming back is 4 hours in LAS after flying overnight from HNL. Yuck. Still, WN pax have been known to endure worse, so I'm curious why it's no longer offered as a connecting flight.

ChiGB1973:

I was curious to know if (at www.ata.com) it was a case of "you're able to pick BHM-HNL, but no flights are returned" vs "If you pick BHM as origin, then HNL disappears from the possible destination list". I just went to the site and found that it's the latter.
Back in the day, TZ would show all of its cities in the destination list, no matter what you picked for origin, so for instance you could search for BOS-LGA, even though that itinerary was never sold (since it would require connecting in MDW). When I worked there, I wrote the Javascript code to make the dest list change based upon what the user picks as origin. So I'd say that if HNL no longer shows up once you pick BHM, either it's really not sold anymore, or possibly someone made a simple human error, but I'd strongly bet that that routing just isn't sold anymore.
As for why the routemap still shows it, I'd say give it a while, and it won't anymore. When I was there, we didn't always push "functionality" and "content" to the production server at the same time.
However, I do owe those folks a "hi, how ya doin" email, so if you want I can ask them for sure. Just let me know.

Yes, you were able to book the flight as of a few months ago. No "no flights returned" message.

It connected in LAS.

I did not book then. Just wondering what has changed.
