US Airlines Need To Take Lessons From Bangkok Air!

I just returned from a three week trip to Thailand and I have to say that Bangkok Air may just be one of the greatest airlines I have ever flown on! I think this for a number of reasons, the first being cost. Keep in mind, I flew from Koh Sumui (a resort island in the Gulf of Thailand) to Chang Mai ( a city in northern Thailand) and back to Bangkok all for $111 US. Very cheap. The plane stopped in a couple of places on this route so the legs of the flight lasted between 35 to 55 minutes. Very short. Despite the low price and the short duration of the flights, hot towls were given out on each flight, a meal was served on each flight, actual silverware was used for these meals, the FA's were very friendly and attentive, free internet access was provided for passengers in Bangkok Air's terminals, complimentary juice, soda, and snacks such as fruit was provided in Bangkok Air's terminals, and each time I flew them, they were always on time! Keep in mind what I paid for all this. Now, if a small airline in South East Asia is able to provide all these services and amenities, why can't this be done as well in the good ole USA? I can't even get a whole can of Sprite on Shuttle by United when I pay $250 for a ticket. By-the-way, Bangkok Airways presently operates only ATR's but will be adding jets to their fleet in the coming months.

Other than the price, you described air travel outside the US. Any Euro flag carrier offers pretty much the same service as you described, for fares comparable to the US. You can't really compare the fares, think what they're (not) paying for labour. Their cost base would a THIRD of that of any Euro or US carrier.

Why pick on USAirways? They are better than the horrid DL, the mediocre UA, CO and NW, and the rest. The only US domestic that knows how to serve it's pax is Midwest Express. I would rate US as the best mainline domestic carrier in your fair land.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

You misunderstood my post, I am not picking on "US Airways" as you have said. I am picking on all "US Airlines" which includes UAL, DL, Etc.

i flew on them years ago when they had the Dash 800-100's and i flew to Koh Samui..i was very impressed with the pretty flight attendant, as well as a nice snack..and i love that little airport on the island...would love to see those big ATR 72's powering in and out of there.. I am sure the service on their new 717's will be impeccable
