Possible Emergency At ATL 5PM CST Feb. 10

Sun Feb 11, 2007 8:01 am

Just was told by my mom that a friend called and said there are white lights going off in the airport and announcements over the PA about how there is an emergency in the airport and to wait for further instructions. Then there was an announcement that said "please stand in line for further instructions." Then the phone line went dead.

Anyone with more information?

Flight ops are normal, nothing weird going on at the TRACON and Center.

That happened when I was flying through ATL back in August, and nobody, myself included, paid any attention to it. I ended up boarding my flight and going out as usual.

Interesting.

My mom's friend talked to someone (probably an airTran employee, since that's who she's flying on), and he didn't know what it was, and added that he'd been working there 6 months and hadn't heard it before.

Quoting Aviationwiz (Thread starter):
Then there was an announcement that said "please stand in line for further instructions."

Back in July during a big ATL delay meltdown, I witnessed an employee go through a door to the ramp stairway without entering his code in, so an alarm went off with a voice saying something to that effect.. It took a few minutes for an employee to fix it.. Maybe that was the problem?

Sounds like a SIDA alarm going off, but in this case, the agent is already in the SIDA, but blew the security of the gate. No big deal, nothing for passengers to worry about, but that agent will have to call Airport Security and let them know he/she cleared the alarm.
This isn't where I parked my car...

It happens all the time. Some sort of testing that they do periodically. It's more annoying than anything. Tends to happen more on E Concourse than anywhere else.

They are doing work on the fire sprinkler systems in the terminals. They are always going off when they test them......flashing white lights and the alarm followed by the instructions...................which nobody seems to pay any attention to!!!!
