DL's West Coast Widebody Routes

Ive been reading on a.net that DL is going to stop running thier widebodies in the US. Will this mean that ATL-LAX,SFO,LAS, SEA, SLC, PHX, and PDX routes will go from 763/764s to 757s? And in the case of ATL-LAX I am surprised to see a 777 still on the sched. for this summer. Will this remain? or is it just tenative?

I don't really know if you count it West Coast, but DL does ATL-ANC with a 763.

Don't forget SAN. PHX doesn't get any widebodies for the summer.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

I don't know why everyone thinks DL will stop running widebodies domestically-some routes require the lift, you will always see 767s to FL and CA from DL.

I doubt it. There will always be routes that warrant widebodies. Even with the ex-TWA 757s, Delta simply doesn't have enough 757s to handle all of the domestic widebody routes. Either way, those ex-TWA 757s will mostly be used on lesser Hawaii routes such as to OGG or KOA, and on third-tier transatlantic routes.

It isn't just west coast. Many domestic flights previously flown with wide-body aircraft are being replaced with other aircraft. DL has been shifting the wide-body aircraft to Int'l flights.

There will still be some domestic wide-body flights, but not as many as there used to be.

The number of domestic widebodies has been the same as for the past year and will remain that way. DL's 24 domestic 767-300s will continue to operate domestic widebody flights to places like JAX, MCO, TPA, FLL, SAN, LAX, SFO, SEA, LAS, PHX, DEN, etc. Eventually all 767-400 aircraft may be moved to international, but there will still be a moderately-sized fleet of 767-300s to operate domestic routes.

Add in HNL and OGG, which should go 763 once DL needs another batch of 764s for int'l flights. And as a sidenote, the non-ER 763s are used for international flights as well, namely MBJ on a regular basis, and depending on season, PTY, GUA and SJO.

That's because it's the spare that doesn't op revenue until its morning Asian flights have successfully departed.
