Etihad Airways To Fly To Milan In Italy

Mon Feb 12, 2007 10:00 am

There is a lot of changing that is going to happen to Etihad Airways this summer 2007
So let's sum them in these points

1- Overall there will be 18% increase in Etihad Flights to all routes that’s will make 40 additional flights from Abu Dhabi to it's world wide network ass fallow

Middle East: 15 additional flights
Indian Sub content: 6 additional flights
Africa: 6 additional flights
Europe: 5 additional flights
Far East: 8 additional flights

2- Also Etihad Airways will start new flights to Sydney from Mar / Dublin from Aug / Milan from Sep

3- TO Support the additional flights and new routs Etihad Airways will receive 6 new aircrafts from now till Aug 2007 (4 A330.200 & 2 A340.600)

Etihad Airways Says it just approved its Strategy for the next three years and soon it will announce its plans for the 2007/2008 winter Season.

Let's not forget that Etihad Airways is only three years old & this little time it achieved what other airliners could not do in many years All the Best to Etihad

Very informative summery, actually I believe that Emirates are too proud of themselves and forgot that they need to compete with other airlines in the region. That is why I think QR and Etihad will have great chance to grow and gain more market size

I think your right Emirates is great Airline with great network but it needs to improve in some areas for example Emirates business class is not attractive anymore when you compare it to Etihad flatbed seats which almost look like a privet suite also Virgin Atlantic, Singapore & Cathy Pacific have way better seats than Emirates. Of course the seat is not everything you're looking at but it's important alongside the good service/catering and the IFE.

If you fly Emirates Business class in one of its A330.200 fleet you will get 2-3-2 configuration which is really bad if you compare it to most airlines which have 2-2-2 configuration in their A330 Fleet.

GFA330

For the summer 2007 there is nothing about Turkey IST but who knows things change really fast here in Etihad but for now it's not in Etihads Priority List.

Thanks for the update ,

Shame MAN doesnt get the B77W, apparently MAN is very successful. so wonder why B77W wont be used there after March?
LGW still seems to be on the booking systems and on Amadeus post 26 march, 07 . is that route definately being axed ?

Any news on improving inflight meals ? ground services ? the hub AUH ?

They still need to increase frequencies to existing destinations if you ask me.
I'm off to the UAE for a week this Saturday and by lack of frequency (not flying on days that help maximize my stay there) I won't be taking Etihad Airways' nonstop BRU-AUH, which happens to be the only direct flight linking BRU with the Gulf.
I really think they should look at QR and opt for the 319LR for routes like BRU to enable daily flights both ways.
I want the European Union flag on airliners.net!

No doubt that QR end EY are rapidly developing and that their product is really convincing in the way that it is more uniformed than EK's... But EK's strengh is their DXB hub, one of the world's most impressive airport.

I've never been to AUH, but that airport seems really old fashioned.

hmm...I beg to differ.. The M.E. carriers need the volume to support their (often) lower one-stop fares; a 319 does not allow for this

But congrats to Milan (MXP I guess?) and EY you are most welcome at CPH!

Etihad Airways will fly to London Gatwick till 26 Mar after that it will suspend the route. Also from 26 Mar Etihad will increase London Heathrow Flights from 12 to 14.

The in-flight service is being closely reviewed to improve it in all classes during the next coming months

The latest News about the ground service was that Etihad recently opened it's dedicated premium check in faculty for both Diamond & Pearl Zone in Abu Dhabi Airport. Also it's expanding its chuffer driver service in more destinations around the world.

About the Hub Abu Dhabi is building a stat of the art brand new airport which will be ready by 2010 (will cost 21 billion AED) till then to accommodate the growth number of passenger and Etihad expanding planes Etihad Airways will get its own Terminal set to open by the mid 2008

BA777

Yes Etihad Airways will Suspend Gatwick and will go twice daily to Heathrow effective 26 Mar but as I said before things change really fast at Etihad and the routes are being evaluated very closely.

Etihad Airways is not as many thinks it dose not want to operate any route for prestige or what ever it wants to be a successful airline and be profitable to support its Future growth plans.

Ah they are very nice to look at on the ramp at LGW, especially on the rare occasion that the sun is shining! However, moving more into LHR is probably a good move in the long term  Smile

OK well short term, construction is underway for a new Etihad terminal, which will have 9 contact gates, and will go a long way to sorting out the congestion in the current abysmal terminal. Continued below...  Smile

With only 6 more A332's and 4 A346's on order (and the A380's due much later), I wonder exactly how much more they can expand their route network on their current fleet. They will have to become masters of aircraft scheduling.

I really don't think so. The new runway will be open in 2008, but just judging the amount of time wasted in building this little terminal at the Echo ramp, it will be a while beyond 2010 in my opinion for the new airport of 80-odd gates, road infrastructure etc etc

Interesting information... i believe EY is the only airline to operate soon both the A346 and B77W... what will be the respective usage of each aircraft type by EY (markets, configurations, destinations...)?

I know EK and EY are different airlines serving different markets with differing strategys but I find it interesting EY are pulling their daily service from AUH and moving it up the road whereas EK have increased their LGW ops to 3x daily, is it simply a case of DXB has far more demand (especially O&D) than AUH and so EK can support smaller routes like LGW, MAN, NCL etc whereas EY need the connections LHR provide?

LGW is being suspended and not axed and could well appear again in the near future. For now the B77W on the LGW route could be used more efficiently elsewhere with suggestions that the A332 operating to MAN may be replaced with it.

CGK will go daily so accounting for one of the available B77W rotations.

JNB will go daily with the A332 and an extra flight will be operated to Khartoum.

LHR is going double daily but if they could only get more LHR slots well most will know the answer to that question.

As usual exciting times at EY.

Etihad Website lists Istanbul/Turkey as a destination in their route map. It is listed as destinations being currently served with a red dot.

However, I don't think you can book it yet.

It looks like the website is a head of the company..

Looks promising...

I'm with you! I think it is still needed to increase frequencies on all existing routes to a daily schedule. But an A319LR is in my eyes not the best think to do that. They should do the same thing like for example LH. Lufthansa has a lot of flights to Asia and Africa with two destinations. For example LH772 / 782 departs every day the same time to BKK, but continues three times a week to SGN and the other days to KUL. The same could be done with EY's flight for example the FRA flight! Instead of laying around on the tarmac at FRA for almost 6 hours the flight could continue to BRU or AMS or somewhere in UK.
Don't you think this would make more money and yields???
