Alitalia E170 At Portuguese Air Force Base

Mon Feb 12, 2007 11:55 pm

Last saturday I was in Alverca, near Lisbon, where I saw an Alitalia E170 parked on the apron at the local Air Force Base. I was wondering what it could be doing there? Alitalia flies Airbus to Lisbon (MD's have become rare) and obviously not to military air bases.

Could ot have been a delivery flight? But then, do delivery flights normally use military airports?

Oh.... at Alverca (LPAR) are two Embraer 175 for painting. This are MSN 170.00153 and 170.00154. Could Alitalia Express (XM) get the two E175 (first E175 for XM) or would both aircraft go to Alpi Eagles and fly there for Alitalia? The 3nd possibility is a new italian operator which also could fly for Alitalia.

So, are you sure that you see E170 instant of E175? Or have you got a registration of that aircraft?

Not sure at all - it was from a big distance and I saw only part of the plane. So most likely I saw one of those two E175 you mentioned. Are they new or 2nd hand?

They are new! Both are owned by GECAS.

Ah, so that would be another plane then - not one of the two mentioned previously?
