RAK Airways To Place 15-frames Order

Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:51 am

And the Middle East order boom continues:

Quote:
UAE-based RAK Airways said it plans to order 15 passenger aircraft from Airbus or Boeing to meet surging demand for air travel in the Middle East.

The airline, which has leased two Boeing 757s, will decide in 2010 whether to order twin-engine A330-200s from Airbus or 787 models from Boeing, the carrier's chief executive, Jack Romero, said.

1. The decision date is quite far into the future. Either they really intend to place the order only in 2010, or this is the date for the first delivery.

2. For a 2010 order the choice between A330-200 and B787-800 seems a bit odd.

The CEO probably must have said that they will take a decision now, for deliveries in 2010...why would they announce today that they are going to take a decision in 2010...? Typical press mis-translation most probably....

Can they get 787s before 2013?

Maybe they could if they leased the planes from one of the leasing companies that ordered the 787.
