NK To Start ACY-LAS Non-stop

While playing around on our website, I noticed you can now book ACY-LAS nonstop starting May 3rd. This had been rumored for a while, good thing it's finally happening!!

That's awesome, with Wynn rumored to be making a huge investment back in Atlantic City there will be some suits mixed amongst the flip floppers.

That's really good news for ACY.

Maybe one day there could be a triangle route to connect casino markets. It could go something like LAS-GPT-ACY-LAS.

sounds like a defensive move here if F9 decides to start phl-las ( which would be a great route for them)MYOP but NK has to draw some traffic from PHL....a LAS route could possibly do that.....but some island runs would be better....

The Atlantic City outboud flight 609 is the area code of Atlantic city... the way back I don't think that is Las Vegas' though.

908 is a Central Jersey area code. 702 is the area code for Lost Wages.

You might end up seeing it first on DL with the 1900's (BigSky?)... they actually ran the flight with the 328's until they got rid of them. There has actually been 4 different airlines who have tried this route and it has failed everytime. (NK,US,DL,NW)

With the high capacity of the NK 321's could a 321 even do ACY-LAS non-stop with a full boat ? I would imagine a passenger/cargo restriction would be necessary.

Some people are reading too much into this. This has nothing to do with connecting America's two gambling meccas. What it has to do with is the fact that Spirit is the dominant player in central New Jersey and at Atlantic City, and that New Jersey is a very heavily populated place. People in Jersey like to go on vacation, and, like everyone else in America, they like to go to Las Vegas. It perfectly fits their Atlantic City route structure of serving key vacation markets, and Spirit will probably have no trouble doing well on the route. The little "Vegas to Atlantic City" business traffic they will get is just a bonus. That is not why they are launching this route.

I live in Western Monmouth County and work in Union County, people in Union County think Im from "South Jersey"

North Jersey: anything North of the Raritan River

Central Jersey: South of the Raritan, North of 195.

Exactly! The fact that they're both gambling towns is coincidental, and although the flight might attract a few casino employees or hard-core gamblers who shuttle back and forth, I would imagine that it's aimed more at the southern NJ leisure market. Some people might even drive from Philadelphia if the fare is good.

If you said you were going to fly from PHL, people would look at you like you had two heads. Granted, EWR was mildly closer and easier to get to (but only slightly).

The really funny thing was when I moved to Westchester County, where they act like Jersey is a different country, the kind of place you'd get sent if you really misbehaved. When I'd fly out of EWR, people in Westchester would look at me like I had THREE heads, extolling the virtues of JFK - an airport I found much less accessible. But let's not open THAT particular can of worms ....

I think I went to school in the same little town, and I know what you mean. Although I flew out of PHL at least once while I was there, and I knew a few other people who did on a regular basis, I think the reason for the general preference for EWR is the availability of inexpensive transportation, which was lacking to PHL. Now that the NJTransit Northeast Corridor Line goes directly to EWR (which it did not while I was in school), it's even easier to get there. You may be able to take the train to PHL too, but it's much less convenient since you need to change at least once. There are also no shared-van type services either, as far as I know--it's just taxis, which are not cheap.

I wonder what sort of impact the new DL service from TTN to BOS and ATL is having, since TTN is more convenient than EWR and PHL for many in central Jersey. I was in college during Eastwind's brief existence, but it seemed like nobody really took them seriously (despite their advertising at football games!). DL is obviously in a whole different category, though, in terms of name recognition and destinations served.

Not only that but ACY is a realistic alternative to PHL, which shoots its cachement up that much more.

interesting IMHO, the O&D is miniscule in this market pair though. I understand there have been negative pressures keeping demand down in this marlet, but to go from 5-10 passengers each way to 130-140 is a tough task to say the least. Good luck with this one NK...

I think it'll work... during the summer months, we get a good share of people doing the ACY-DTW-LAS run. Obviously we don't offer it in the winter, so the numbers you see might be from DL only.

How's PVD doing PVD757... couple rough days there getting flights out, huh?

It would really depend, but I think they would really have to worry more about a 120F summer day out of LAS than a winter day out of ACY if they load the aircraft properly.

Then you probably remember when New Jersey just had 2 area codes: 201 & 609.
