Midway Airport And The Installation Of Jet Bridges

Fri Feb 16, 2007 12:11 pm

Hi All,

I am a little curious about something with MDW. I understand that prior to the late 80's Midway did not have covered jet bridges. Does anyone know the exact date that MDW began getting the jet ways installed?

I don't know when, but I remember when you boarded the plane, you had to walk up stairs to get to the jetway..  wave

I've seen photos of passengers from the original Midway Airlines boarding the old-fashioned way (i.e. stairs and then walking across the apron to the door), so I'm guessing the stair towers and jetbridges were installed sometime in the 1982-1985 period.
