Oasis Hong Kong Student & Kids Offer

Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:22 am

Well as if a return to Hong Kong for well under £300 wasn't good enough, if you are a student and have proof (such as a Student Union Card) then you can now fly there for half price on all economy fares! Even adding the taxes in, that comes to just £195, flights have to be booked through STA Travel in the UK, and you have to present your proof of being a student upon check in. But what a deal!

Also, they have a 'kid's fly free' offer on at the moment when flying with an adult, again excellent marketing resulting in some equally good deals for us consumers yes  Must book before the 28th October and fly before the 25th October, I think I'll be taking a trip for sure now!

Sounds like the "Death Rattle" of a desperate airline that cannot fill seats on a prime route. Maybe the travellers are wary of a possible problem in the future?

The student offering can actually also be booked on Oasis Hong Kongs own homepage.

I flew them a couple of weeks ago, and the aircraft was indeed not full, around 40% load in Y. Let's hope this extra offer can fill some more seats for the next half year, while the airline is getting known out there. It would be a shame with a collapse for this great product.

As BA alone is sending 3x744 from HKG to LHR around the same time as O8 take off, one could hope that there are room for an LCC carrier on this route.
Last flight: SAW-CPH on H9 on 02/11/09 - Next Flights: 23/12/09 CPH-AAL on QI, 30/12/09 CPH-LHR on SK, 19/01/10 CPH-CDG-

Hong Kong is not China. Not better or worse, just different.

What is the awareness and opinion of Oasis of people in Hong Kong? There has been little marketing from what I have seen amny many people I know have either never heard of Oasis Hong Kong or know hardly anything about them, and even the ones that do are wary of flying such a new unknown airline.

Hope it works out for them but I worry with all their offers and their bold expansion plans.

It didn't look like that on the site, perhaps at one point you could but now they instruct you to contact STA; http://www.oasishongkong.com/gb/en/promotion.aspx?id=20070213A

I think generally they have been getting some quite good loads and a few trip report have appeared on this site, over Christmas some friends of mine looked at going home to HK to see family but even Oasis were charging about £600rtn, so that gives an indication that the flights were fairly full. Plus this latest deal is clever, there is very a large amount of HK students studying in UK Universities, so aiming it right at them and including the major travelling times for those students going home and then returning again next academic year (June/July and then September/October) will give them exposure to the market they are aiming for.

If you go onto the Hong Kong website you will be able to book online. The UK site instructs you to contact STA.

Thank you, my browser automatically directs me to the UK site, and I hadn't even thought of looking on the HK side, assumed if would be the same!

Thanks,

.....while loads doesn't = profitability, their loads have been rather good and they are working on starting services to other cities such as OAK, ORD (they are waiting for approval....

they started services only 4-5 months ago..lets give them more time before calling them a failure...
