Email From Captain Eric Moody!

Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:11 am

Further to the thread about the BA 747 which lost all four engines in 1982 which is now archived I sent Capt Eric Moody (the pilot) a email asking if he would like make a comment and share his experiences. I wasn't expecting a reply, but got one!!
RE: BA 747 With Four Engines Failed In 1987. (by Antskip Jan 31 2007 in Civil Aviation)

Dear Dan
Sorry that it has taken so long to answer your e-mail but we left the UK on the 20th January and only got back yesterday. However I did look at the discussion but have made it my habit not to comment, at least not publicly, about what is written concerning myself, so I will not dignify any discussion with my remarks. But thank you for your interest I would point out that it seems that Wikpedia have it wrong, but what's new, I was back on the Flight Deck before the first engine failed and I did not leave it until we were on the ground. Perhaps people should be directed to my website where an accurate article, written by another pilot, appears. There is also one posting which illustrates that the professional jealousy which I have experienced for many years now is still alive and kicking. If they only new that my many and various speaking and media appearances and engagements have enabled me to donate many thousands of pounds to various charities in the last 25 years, but then I doubt it as I have gone from sceptical to cynical.
Thanks very much for your interest and should you feel inclined to quote from my remarks please feel free to do so
Sincerest regards

I would suggest that just because one person gets a reply, that everyone does NOT hound Mr. Moody with emails in the hope of getting a reply persoanlly themselves. It may discourage him from such nice replies in the future should they become such a common occurance, although i am sure he gets his fair share anyway.

just my tuppence worth of course...

I'm inclined to agree, but I'm sure that email answers the question pointing people to his website if they want to know more!
