They're no rumors... the guy at Mesa who blew up the old structure of the Hawaiian interisland market with go!'s fares is RegionsAir's new director of sales/marketing. He's a friend of mine, and though I don't know exactly what he's planning, I think we can all be pretty sure he's gonna dump the fares in their EAS markets. I mean, I just pulled some fares on AA
.com and let's just say that those old $650 last-minute "walkup and pay through the nose" full-Y fares aren't there anymore... They want to build up those markets and stimulate traffic, and there aren't too many better ways to do it than cutting fares to rather more reasonable levels.
As for the operations, they just need to get the planes they have, back up and running. Once that happens, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few new markets open...
