ACY-LAS will be a struggle, but it might work...... ACY-SJU is grasping at straws... i have a hard time believing this will do better that PVD-FLL (id imagine its with PVD's plane)

Sometimes its really hard to tell if NK is being creativing, or desperately chasing revenue with out of the box thinking. With their inability to stic with one particular strategy i sorta see it as more of an act of despiration to get something to work.

Surely BOS would be better than SJU?

They probably won't see a lot of SJU-based passengers flying up to ACY to gamble. I think they have casinos in Puerto Rico if i'm not mistaken.

It could work, drawing on everyone in NJ who doesn't wanna mess with EWR or PHL. I like the idea, and if it work's great, if not NK doesn't hang on to money-losers very long.

It's geared more towards NJ travellers, as we have sizeable Spanish communities in Southern NJ(mainly Vineland and Millville) , plus any central NJ who might want to skip EWR... we'll see how it works.

If it doesn't work, we'll dump it quick!!

Is everybody forgetting that Central New Jersey is one of the most densely populated regions in the United States? New Jersey is home to almost 9M people and Atlantic City is a centralized airport location for pretty much all of them except those in the northern most area. The fact that the airport is in "Atlantic City" makes it sound weird to some, as if the only thing Atlantic City is casinos. When in reality, the airport has a population catchment area that is larger than that of Miami or Dallas. Spirit has been very successful with Atlantic City, and is planning on building on that. Will the route work? Who knows, but immediately saying it will be a failure is ridiculous.

Personally, I have family in Toms River that prefer ACY over EWR and PHL. They'll use NK whenever they can because of it.

Well officially there is a demand of around 2 PDEW  Silly, but that's just considering ACY-LAS. Including the catchment area is tougher because it's hard to tell which passengers go to which airports but there's definitely more demand. How far are PHL and EWR in terms of drive time from ACY?

The same people who fly PHL-LAS, South Jersey residents. Southern New Jersey has a growing population of retirees especially from NYC, there are several large retirement communities in Little Egg Harbor etc around Atlantic City. There's even more in Ocean County (Manchester, Lakehurst, Forked River, Whiting, Toms River, Barneget etc..)

NK does well with their Florida flights from ACY, the Las Vegas and San Juan flights are a natural extension to these services.

From Center City Philadelphia ACY is about 45 miles or about and hour drive down the Atlantic City Expressway.

From New York City ACY is about 90 miles, 1 hour 49 minutes (according to Mapquest.)

However the majority of ACY's customer base is coming from Philadelphia and New York City's NJ suburban communities, which are closer to ACY.

Nkops,
This is great for NK and ACY!! SJU will do just fine. All of our flights out of PHL are packed, and a lot of the pax are from NJ. If we can send the 330 down daily, then NK shouldn't have an issue out of ACY. I think a lot of folks on this forum think ACY is just for Atlantic City, but there is a much larger population than most would think. If you can get to PHL from NJ, then you can just as easily get to ACY. And I won't begin to state the obvious about what airport is easier to travel out of!!
As far as LAS....again, try to find seats on WN or US/HP out of PHL, or CO from EWR. This route isn't to just to connect the two US gambling cities, but its also going to be used becanse there is a HUGE demand in our region. And once a passenger sees how easy ACY is, they should never want to return to PHL or EWR. Just my thoughts. Just don't get to out of hand with the AU levels!!

= I completely agree. Spirit has been doing well on combining seemingly odd-pairs. They are taking risks and dropping routes if they dont work. Moreover, if you look at their fare offerings carefully, their prices are at-par or more than your average legacy.

Cheers,
