No doubt, in a week or so, the first pics will be forthcoming!

The new c/s is going to look great on the A330! Are there any spotters where they are painting the a/c that can show us the progress?

Sad to see the old colors go, honestly. I'm all for a mixed fleet. The old and the new look so cohesive next to each other.

None that live in New Iberia, LA directly (if there were, in years past, we would have seen pics of Air India 777s, Qantas Wunala Dreaming 747-400ER right away)...it's a good 3hr plus drive from the Houston area, and I'll be out of town when it likely comes out. Shame, as it'd be worth it!

Oh, I couldn't agree with you more. I love seeing a mixed fleet. When you're out spotting, you want to see diversity, not the same color scheme for the same airline, no matter how good looking the colors are.

Another note: The Trans-Atlantic 757s have just begun refitting with new interiors, Envoy sections AND winglets. These aircraft are expected to all be completed for the start/restart of PHL TA services this season.

Just a couple of days ago, I booked my first transatlantic itinerary (and first widebody flights), and it wound up being on US. Never mind that I would have preferred FI or CO, but at any rate my transatlantic legs are PHL-CDG-PHL on the A330. The first flight is mid-May, and the return is late June. I hope at least one of those flights is in new colors - I'd be happy to get one of each, actually. But since the A330 fleet is just nine planes, they might get painted pretty quickly, but then again I know its hard to find time to get international widebodies in the shop as well. Anyone have any guesses as to how quickly US plans to finish the whole A330 fleet?

Because of the America West merger (who have hubs in the hot cities of Phoenix & Las Vegas), they opted for a white livery because it will be lest subject to fading in the sun, and the cabin will stay cooler in the planes that go through Phoenix and Las Vegas, especially in the summer.

Never mind that the A330 doesn't go to PHX or LAS, but of course they are painting all the non-special-scheme aircraft in the same scheme.

At least they kept color on the bottom third of the fuselage! But anyway that was US's official explanation for choosing a white livery.

I was skeptical of the new scheme at first, but every time I see it on a new aircraft type I fall in love with it more. On the 319 it was like "Eh" on the 320 it was like "Ah" on the 767 it was like "Ooh" on the 733 it was "oooh ahh" and now on the 734 its like "Ahhh yeah". I can't wait to see the 330 and the 321... not to mention all the cool commuter aircraft it'll be on.

Looks great on the 190 too.

This scheme seems to look better on longer airplanes.
On the 319, you don't get the length of fuselage to differentiate between the up-swoop at the nose from the up-swoop at the tail. And the curves on the upper tail seem to take up much of the aft fuselage.
On larger planes, there's just more real estate, and I think this livery is more visually appealing with the longer stretches of straight lines.

My relationship with USAir is over, but I do like their new livery.

It was never black; the color is a very dark blue. It does look almost black.

Well, another plus with the lighter-colored livery is that the peeling paint that was seen on some of the 767's and 737's won't be quite as obvious in the future...

Possibly in BFM for maintenance being performed before the painting?

Who decides what ships go to paint/maintenance in what order? This was not the first A330 delivered to US. Is this the job of a dispatch manager? That sounds like a great job. Also, how many A330s can we expect in the new scheme before the big summer transatlantic season?

US outsources some of its heavy maintenance at BFM. The A330 heavy checks are there for the first time this year, after Air Canada made a royal mess of them last year, taking far longer than promised to get them done.

I also enjoyed seeing the first pic of the 737.

Soon.

The 321's are all newer than then 319's and 320's, so they're just now getting around to needing their first heavy maintenance checks, which is when they'll begin to get repainted.

Re some of the earlier questions N273AY should be finished repainting on Mar 8th at ARA to be followed by N272AY. I believe the plan is to paint 4 A-330's between now and May then stop for the Summer season. Of interesting note 757-2B7 N201UU is undergoing ETOP's mods and should return to service around March 1st sporting blended winglets.

I have a lot of respect for ETOPS1 and his info is usally very acurate so hate to disagree there buddy but as I previously mentioned 4 are scheduled between now and May (273, 272, 274, 270) then no more to at least the end of the peak Transatlantic travel period, probably end of October, then I assume painting will resume but that is not confirmed?

lga777. i am sorry . i got the A330'S confused with the etops 757's. i should have previewed my post before posting it. if you look at the post you posted, it ended with the 757 etops being modified with the winglets. so the next post was " cool, are all 9 going to be done". i quickly jumped on it and said yes not realizing the poster was referring to the A330's . not the 757's. and we are not even converting 9 757's to etops . i think it's 4. my bad. and thanks for the post about having a lot of respect for me. i have the upmost respect for you. always looking foward to your info.

As was said, it will not leave ARA until the 8th. In other news 201UU did a 1.5 hr test flight today and should be leaving soon.
