ORD Weather

Sun Feb 25, 2007 8:21 am

Not wanting to be "JetBlue'd", United has cancelled many flights in and out of Chicago tonight and tomorrow morning in advance of the snow/ice storm. I'm sure UA and all other airlines are avoiding a JetBlue situation at all cost.

www.ual.com says that the only flight cancelled into ORD with a ticket waiver is Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

It says any flight to/from ORD, Cedar Rapids, or MSP.

The website is a bit behind. They cancelled this afternoon's SAN-ORD and a couple of ORD-SANs today/tonight. Though it looks like the red-eye SAN-ORD is still scheduled. They've already cancelled one of the morning SAN-ORD flights. I'm sure it's the same everywhere. American has cancelled flights from SAN-ORD and Southwest has cancelled SAN-MDW later today.

UA as well as AA have lots of experience with our crappy weather here in Chicago. Preemptive cancellations make good sense from a customer service and business view. B6 just had to learn it the hard way.

Flights on Sat evening/ Sunday morning this time of year are usually booked very lightly. There is little risk of cancelling a few flights and a great deal of risk is eliminated by removing some flights from the schedule.

Looks like all flights scheduled with a 7pm or later departure on UA has been cancelled out of ORD. AA has also cancelled quite a few flights also. AA cancelled almost all domestic flights from DFW between 1pm-6pm. Definitley not a good day to be flying in the Central U.S.

I see what you mean, but most people aren't to happy if your flight get's cancelled. Now if I'm in Hawaii or the Carribean and I get cancelled it's not a big deal. Just one more day of vacation.  Smile
